I'm sure you all remember the whole "Black Andy/Black Debbie" Sealab/Andy Richter thing. Well...here we go again. Even though it isn't that similar this time. Last night (Sunday) on FOX, the Simpsons ran two episodes. The one at 8:30 had Homer eating a new sandwhich, the "Ribwhich". When he takes his first bite, his pupils dilate, picture of the ribwhich going through...and you know that this is another parody of the fantastic drug abuse movie "Requiem for a Dream". But...Sealab's "Stimutacts" did a very similar parody...hmm...

You know it's funny. I never would have gotten the "Requiem for a Dream" parody if it wasn't for Sealab (and watching message boards review that episode). I don't know if the Simpsons crew even saw Sealab, or just went for another drug reference on their show, but it is a very intresting considence.

Not the first time The Simpsons' have been on a drug binge. When he was sent away to a peaceful island he started licking the backs of frogs. And Bart's bout with "ritalin"(I forgot the name of the drug he actually took).

So of course the only natural response is to say, "Simpson's did it"

Or the time at the chili cookoff where he ate the hot pepper. Haha, I know there has to be more incidents of drug use in the Simpsons. :)

They gave it the appropiate title of Focusin...
(sorry for getting off an adult swim topic)

yeah, i noticed the requiem for a dream thing too. stimutacs was on a whole a better episode than the ribwich was, but the ribwich "pip-pop" scene was great, what with the fast food guy picking his nose. good stuff, and requiem for a dream is an amazing movie too. come to think of it, mission hill parodied "pi"
and sealab parodied "waking life", adult swim really knows what to parody

Don't forget Homer's "antacid trip" when he ate the baking soda in the fridge.

It's funny--in the ribwich scene, I was trying to figure out what they were parodying and the best I could come up with was Pi. Apparently I was close, since Requiem for a Dream was also done by Darren Aronofsky (sp?).

The ribwich is a parody of the McRib sandwich which was featured at McDonald's at various times around the country... other than that, the only two other definitive parodies I saw were of the deadheads and groupies and of the can of sardines in Futurama... funny how the simpsons is stealing plot lines from Futurama now...

Did you read the thread? Futurama didn't have the "Requiem" thing first, but Sealab did. By the way, the Ribwhich is not only a parody of the McRib, but the commercial was a spoof of Cheverolet commercials ("Like A Rock") as having a slogan "Like A Rib" and the whole rib-making thing...

Dont forget Homer's love of Morphine... lovingly supplied by Dr. Hibbert at any opportunity, eh-He-He-He!
