OK, I know we got a lot of fans here. So I gotta ask:
1. Favorite host?
2. Favorite 'bot?
3. Favorite mad?
4. Favorite movie?
My picks:
1. Joel-- I love the slightly drugged-out personality, though I do think that overall the Mike shows were better than the Joel shows.
2. Crow-- I liked his more overt slyness and sarcasm.
3. Clayton Forrester-- OK, heck, maybe I just like Trace Beaulieu.
4. "Manos: The Hands of Fate"-- A personal interest, admittedly, since it was filmed about 30 miles south of where I grew up and lived most of my life. I know most of those roads that they drove up and down endlessly. (After seeing "Manos" friends and I used to drive around muttering, "Manos. . . the . . . hands of fate.")

In order, Mike, Tom, Forrester, and The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living And Became Mixed-Up Zombies. That last is a monster musical. Unfathomably bad.
So, you're from El Paso. I've seen an online article somewhere where some of the Manos crew discussed the making of the film and their reaction to the MSTing. It explains, amongst other things, why Torgo's knees were like that (he designed his own costume and was supposed to be a satyr).

Actually I'm from Las Cruces, 40 miles to the north; the shots of the valley look like they're from highway 28 around La Union. The desert roads, though, could be from anywhere.
I'd really like to read that article you mention. I've heard the "satyr" explanation, and would like to hear more.

I don't really have a favorite MST3K episode yet - I have a lot of catching up to do on that show! - but right now it's "Mitchell." That movie became a source of inside jokes for my friends :D "Extreme Merging Action!"
Favorite robot would probably be Tom Servo, and favorite host would be Mike (for a very superficial reason, I thought he was better-looking than Joel!)
One more note, a somewhat creepy one... I used to live in El Paso years ago! Anyone here remember Wet 'N' Wild Water World in New Mexico?

Cool! How long ago was that?
Yeah, WetnWild's still there. Bizarre now that I think about it, but I never actually went there.

Hmm...it's been about 7 years now since we moved. Wow. Small world, isn't it? Anyway, glad to hear the water park's still there. I'm also glad I finally mustered up the courage to go down the biggest slide they had at the time before I left - whoohoo! :D
Of course...it probably wouldn't seem that big now...

So, did you two know any of these people?

I like Joel more. I think that his calm, sleepy personality lets him deliver the jokes in a funnier way. I've read that a lot of that sleepy personality was the result of him doing the very first episodes (pre-CC) very early in the morning.
fav bot is Crow, Gypsy can be very funny sometimes though with that high voice.
Clayton Forrester. I think that the later eps. went downhill, esp. when they used Forrester's mom and the monkey and brain guy during the Sci-Fi era.
Fave ep: I probably haven't seen enough, though I have most of the official tapes and have seen some of the Sci-Fi eps on TV. I guess Pod People, that one was great. I laughed at it a lot the first time I saw it, probably more than I did at the others I've seen. Gotta love Trumpy. Though Manos and Mitchell are great too. The thing with Manos is, on repeated watchings, you can say "Oh, this has nothing to do with plot...this has nothing to do with plot..." It only has about 15 min. of plot! On the first viewing, I thought that some of that stuff would be brought back later (the teens makin' out in the car for ex.) but nope!

No-- 1966 was before my time.
Kinda wish I did, though. :D

Yeah, I knew you were too young, but I thought may be they were friends of your parents. Sounds like these two guys in the article still live in the area.
