Just curious to ask this one since people from all over the country post on this board....how much do you pay to have HBO and Showtime? This question is inspired by the recent Sopranos thread. I don't have HBO, so I have to wait for the DVD releases of the Sopranos (so no spoilers, please!) but I did contact my cable company today to ask how much it would be to add JUST HBO and Showtime to my line up. They said it would be $14.00 PER CHANNEL! That's ridiculous! I am already paying about $35.00 a month for cable! They want me to pay over sixty dollars to get only two more channels? Who in their right mind would pay that?

When I balked at the price, the lady said for the same money I can get six HBO channels and just as many if not more Showtime channels by subscribing to digital cable. The thing is, I don't want to spend sixty to seventy dollars per month for cable. I am not a rich man, and I do live on a budget, and since most of that budget goes to buying DVDs, I don't want a bunch of movie channels. I also work in a video store so getting movie channels means nothing to me. I just want HBO and Showtime for the original programing, but they price it way out of range. Back to waiting for the DVD releases, I guess.

so I dunno much about cable (my husband used to sell and install Satellite systems and Sat-Cats was the name of the business). I pay $180 a year for C-band with around 5 Stars movie channels thrown in. I don't subscribe to movie channels like HBO and Showtime cos I don't feel the price is worth it.

For cable on 5 tvs and Road Runner (cable isp) and premium HBO, Showtime and Starz, I pay around $!!0.00 a month.

Mine comes to about $45 a month. That's Basic w/extras, (CN, Discovery, etc) and 2 HBO's. It is pricey, but I never hardly go to the movies or out partying anymore. Shoot, I used to spend that in night at the bar. So compartively it is a pretty good deal.

And the digital cable thing, yeah who needs 6 HBO's, they play all the same stuff. Only now you can get the same movie 7 nights a week instead of only 2. In our area they make a big deal about it costing only a few bucks more than complete(all movie channels) cable. But thats over $60.

On another note, I just signed up for Cable internet and it's only 8 bucks more than my aol. Plus they don't make you have a credit card to pay. AOL SUCKS!, but not as bad as Prodigy!!
