A bit off-topic, I know, but I need to say something about the rescue and recovery workers in New York and Washington. I haven't even checked the boards for the last few days. I've been glued to the tv, watching for any good news to be reported. To be honest, the enjoyment I take from reading and posting on this board has been put into grim perspective of late. Though the superheroes we all talk about, debate, and admire on this board are fictional, this is a very good time to think of our real life superheroes and the sacrifices they've made in the days since Tuesday. Admittedly, I have taken the services they provide for granted in the past, but now I cannot help but commend and admire them for the selfLESS way they've gone about their jobs. They are all Supermen and Superwomen in my humble opinion.

Agreed.

I enjoy comics so much because I revel in the heroic. I want to believe in the heroic. And these men and women who so diligently pu their lives on the line to protect and rescue others has affirmed my belief in heroes.

I agree 100%...

You guys hear about on the one plane, how the passengers actually made the plane crash (to some extent anyway)? That shows how brave they were, even though they knew they were going to die...they didn't want others to die..

And I take GREAT joy in hearing about the ones that still lived.

I couldn't agree with you more, Eldermount. The idea of heroes gives me hope, and inspires me to be a better, stronger person. The hijacked plane that crashed in Pennsylvania apparently was forced down by passengers that overtook the hijackers. What greater act of heroism could there be than dying to save others. These people had no special powers. They weren't invulnerable. They had no special devices that could insure their survival or escape. Their bravery and heroism, IMO, rivals or surpasses that of any of our fictional heroes. In this world, it can be easy to forget that there are real-life heroes. I think our fictional heroes are examples of what we can truely be.

Hi everyone!

I absolutely agree with everything that was said above. The passengers that helped bring down the plane over Shanksville, Pennsylvania, and the rescue workers who work night and day to try to find survivors are heroes. Heroism is alive and well in this world, and it will win over cowardly terrorism! Good will win over evil!

Have a heroic day!
