In less than a year we will celebrate the ten year anniversary of the premiere of Batman: The Animated Series. I'd like to know if DC Comics, Warner Brothers, or anyone else involved in the franchise has any plans.

More importantly, does anyone reading this have any wild ideas as to how to celebrate this milestone? A weekend marathon of Batman episodes on Cartoon Network? A Special Edition DVD release of Batman: Mask of the Phantasm? A very special episode of the Justice League? Okay, I'm just kidding about that last one.

I just want to know what you guys think. After all, without this show, there would have been no Superman: TAS, no Batman Beyond, and no Justice League cartoon. In fact, our last memories of any cartoon based on a DC Comics property would be of the Superfriends. Creepy.

Wow..10 whole years..that's amazing.

I'd like to see every ep released on dvd..in a nice box set..with a sticker saying "Special 10th Anniversarry Collectors Edition"...that way they could jack up the price an extra $20 for it begin a collectors edition.. :D

I think that this would be a great idea. I really know that Bruce would be really proud. What I think should happen is there should be a weekend marathon that shows all the Batman TAS in order for all the people that like to tape them. I know that I love to watch them in order. Plus Bruce has to go out at night and fight crime, because the Gotham never sleeps.

Once they get around to doing the DVD box sets (has there been an official announcement yet?) having the first set out on the anniversary would be a nice touch.

Here's a thought: between new episodes and repeats of Batman The Animated Series, The Adventures of Batman & Robin, The New Batman Superman Adventures, Batman Beyond and the upcoming Justice League our beloved version of Batman will have been on the air almost continuously for ten years. Guess that means they've been doing something right. :)

For the anniversary of Batman: The animated series, I would love to see a Dini and Timm comic special like the ones that they used to make. Remember Mad Love? The Christmas Special? The Batgirl Adventures #1? Something like that...you know in case Gotham Adventures continues snowballing downhill. Hey, what about that Harley and Ivy mini-series that Dini and Timm did, but never finished? Hmmmm:confused:

First off, about the B:TAS DVD set - don't expect an announcement for that until at least December of January. Official press releases aren't granted until about 3 months before the discs hit shelves. I'm going to try and find out about these DVDs during the WB chat at www.homethreatreforum.com in October.

Also, I gonna try to do something for the BTAS 10th anniversary on this site. I'd like to put up a whole section dedicated to the 10th anniversary, but with a serious lack of help (even now) at this site, I'm not sure if that will come to pass. I'm hoping things will work out and I still have about 354 days to pull it off.

The show premiered on September 6th, 1992 and I hope I can at least arrange a chat for that date for everyone to pour into and just wax philosophical about the animated Dark Knight. I fno network does a marathon (and I know they won't) then I plan to pull one off myself if I have to.

It's been nearly 10 years. Boy, time sure has a way of marching right down the road. Now I know some of you are too young to remember what you were doing back in '92. Though certain ones like DickGrayson, Nightwing, Clayface, and Maxie Zeus probably all remember. I remember the day when the first episode premired. It was Saturday September 6, 1992. I remember being so excited. Then it dawned on me.....damn, I need a tape quick. To think I got so wrapped up in the excitement that I forgot to get a video tape. Well I did get one within thirty minutes of the show's premire. Cat and the Claw pt. 1 was the first episode. I know ten years may seem like a long time when you're young, but when you get into your late teens and twenties you realize that it's no time at all.

I remember where I was! I was at my grandmothers house when the first episode aired. She sat down and watched it with me and was so impressed that she watched just about everyone after that and recorded them!!:)

Are you saying your grandmother is a fan? Wow! How cool is that! My dad watches it sometimes. I never could get my mom to give it a chance.

If I recall correctly, the first week of episodes went something like this:

Saturday, Sept. 6--The Cat and the Claw, Part I
Sunday, Sept. 7 (Primetime)--On Leather Wings
Monday, Sept. 8--Heart of Ice
Tuesday, Sept. 9--Feats of Clay, Part I
Wednesday, Sept. 10--Feats of Clay, Part II
Thursday, Sept. 11--?
Friday, Sept. 12--?
Saturday, Sept. 13--The Cat and the Claw, Part II

I remember this way too well!

As I remember it, the UK was first to have the show aired, a few hours before the US. However, "The Cat & The Claw" Part I wasn't the first episode aired in the UK - it was "On Leather Wings". I still remember buying my first Batman: TAS figure with my Dad too. The Riddler, t'was. Ah, memories. :)

I remember it was about 5 minutes until airtime and we were on the way home from visiting our cousins. I was all worried I'd miss the premiere, but we got home at 4:59pm and I ran into the house, put in a tape and press record in about 3 seconds. Just as I changed the channel to FOX...there it was! I was simply mesmerized from there on in.
