Thanks to Tom Minton for responding, and to Brian for helping me get in touch with this "Animaniacs" writer to get news on what he and Tom Ruegger are up to. I recieved word from Mr. Minton the day of the attack, and didn't feel it was appropriate to post until now.

Tom Minton is still affiliated with WBA and is currently producing a Tom and Jerry project called "The Magic Ring." It's scheduled to debut in Japan in November and here in the USA early next year.

From the tone of things, Tom Ruegger is no longer at WBA. He's using his own funds to produce a half-hour animated work. Sounds like Will may be right in his guess about TR's working with an indie producer in the future.

I also asked his opinion of the Nickelodeon "Animaniacs" intro. He hadn't seen it and doubted he could be surprised at such shabby treatment. He didn't like the old CN "Lawsuit" promos, either. Minton notes that, unless the network produced the show internally, any given show on the schedule will be disparaged.

The magic ring???

I hope it isn't like the Tom and Jerry Movie. They were better when they didn't talk.

From what little I've heard, they don't talk in this movie, thankfully. The magic ring gets lodged on Jerry's head, and they have to get it off.

Never been a big Tom & Jerry fan myself...

WOO-HOO! Ruegger's working again! Iwonder what this series is...any spoilers? :)

...and I hope that the T&J movie will be good, though I wonder what stuff the Magic Ring will bring, hopefully nothing TOO wacky. But at least they don't talk. That's good!

Well, good to know. I'll be wanting to know more about all concerned; all I wanna know is everything. Btw who else is left @ WBA these days? Minton's there; so is Milo (Swaroop), but Ruegger's gone (thus satisfying K*lln*r further according to a certain WBC fanfic). Who else?

Weekday mornings @ 7:30 6:30 Central & afternoons @ 5:30 4:30 Central. Brace yourself, tho; but you've already had warnings a-plenty on here as to the opening theme (such as it is) & the sliming of the end credits.

Don't see so many slimings anymore, though the credits are still minimized to make room for advertisements (like Michael J. Fox on Nick-at-Nite and Hey Arnold) Most of the time, you can't hear the end tag (is that what it's called??) or see the joke credit.

Nickel-lany. How many times can they do that, anyway?! One of the best things about A! was that you could expect to see a different whatever-those-are pretty much every day. That was the only reason why I would watch the intro in the past.

I wouldn't mind it going back to Cartoon Network, even if it does have that annoying logo. Nick does too, *plus* these annoying pieces of..........uh, you fill in there. :o

Uh, never mind. This isn't the thread for it. Just forget all that.

I don't have a clue what either project is about, and frankly, I don't want to ask Minton a bunch of questions and risk antagonizing him. After all, I am a total stranger to him. I'll keep poking around and see if I can get more "Magic Ring" info as the Japan release date nears.

I was around the WBA studios the a few weeks before the final move ... T&J were in the storyboard stages. But since everything I saw is under gag order, I can't comment anything else about it.

I have no idea what ended up with the beautiful etched glass panels of TTA, A!, and I think BTAS, lining the stairwell at the old WBA; they're not at the new place.

It's pretty dull over there now otherwise. None of the livelyness that use to exist when Animaniacs was around. It seems that no one really cares about their job.

-- Kane ... well, at the rate that WB treats them, I'm not suprised.

Hmmm...he didn't like the Lawsuit ads. I though they where hillarious, oh well I pretty much like all of CN's ads.

On a related note --

I don't know if I've mentioned this before, but in a phone conversation with Corey Burton back in August, he mentioned that he'd just recorded a song written by Randy Rogel for Disney's House of Mouse - one of his "fun, name songs," as he put it, which names a ton of Disney characters in the classic Rogel style popularized on Animaniacs. Corey said it was "very challenging" since he had to sing the song using Prof Ludwig Von Drake's voice, but he said it was a "great song" and "Randy outdid himself."

Corey said the episode is scheduled to air sometime this fall.

I agree with you. I can't stand Nick's logo it is way too big. And usually if one of the characters is in the corner if takes out their head.

Bear with me here. I'm either mentioning the "Lawsuit" ad or another one.

The ad starts out with an announcer intoning: "The real reason that Cartoon Network hats are $18.95." What follows is a series of clips featuring the Warners name-dropping a bunch of celebrities with a sort-of cash register at the bottom. The amount gets bigger with each celeb mentioned. I found it hilarious when the register went bonkers after Yakko said "Look, it's Merv Griffin!" (from Meatballs or Consequences) The price is then upped to $24.95.

To anyone who might know what the lawsuit ad is, please help us out, unless this is the ad, in which case, never mind.

I don't think this is the one y'all are talking about, but there was another one that went something like this:

(Announcer reads white text on a black screen)

"We at Cartoon Network have received several letters from parents who claim that the humor in 'Animaniacs' goes over their children's heads."

(Cut to scene of Wakko belching, from "Morning Malaise")

"We might add that in 73% of those letters, the word 'head' is spelled 'h-e-d'."

I actually kinda liked that one... :p
