View Full Version : What they should do with superhero franchises

It would be wise to allow franchises to be done in either single movies or trilogies. For example, the next three Spider-Man movies (after part three) should be about the alien costume. Jim cameron should get involved and introduce it in the first as a subplot with his proposed Sandman/Hydroman movie kicking off the trilogy. Then the second can feature the battle with Kraven the Hunter storyline, that seems more like a Wes Craven film though, and the third should be all Venom.
As for Daredevil and Hulk do the same thing. Get the villians involved and adapt straight from the comics. Get the Leader and Abombination involved in the sequel. Get Mr. Hyde and Mephisto from J.R. jr's plot in Daredevil.
No offense mate, but Hydro Man in a Spider-man movie wouldn't work. I am huge Spidey fan, yet have NO desire to see Hydro Man in the sequel. They need to get the Symbiotes in the movies. Thers already been several incarnations of how Venom came to be (comic, TAS, Ultimate) so just go with one of them. Hopefully we will see Hobgoblin in a Spidey sequel. I'm guessing that we'll be involved in the inevitable Harry becomes the GG film.
With the rumours of Daredevil 2 (note to fox: Make better name!) being based on Kevin Smiths Guardian Devil comic, (most likely slightly adapted to include The Kingpin more) Bullseye should be making an apperance in that. An Elektra spin off is appratntly also in the works.
With the way I'm picturing Hulk (vs the Military) I doubt a sequel would be made anytime soon. Seriously other than the characters I don't think a single thing of this is taken from the comics. (Gamma bomb? Do we know?)
It seems the Hulk movie origin will be closer to the TV show’s, and that’s fine with me. I actually preferred the TV origin, since it was much more grounded in actual science. Sure, it was still far-fetched, but the whole bomb/deadly radiation angle from the 60’s was something that was on everyone’s mind at the time (I guess it still is today, but anyway...). Plus, I'm fascinated by the affects that adrenaline and anxiety have on the human body, and “David” Banner’s research was so much more intriguing to me than his comic counterpart. As for Hulk sequels, they should look no further than the current comic book. It’s fresh, incredibly cinematic, and is both a homage to the original Jekyll & Hyde theme as well as the 70’s TV show. I’d like to see Bruce on the run, pursued by a shadowy government, constantly wrestling with the ever-evolving monster inside him.
As for Daredevil, I’d like to see film adaptations of both “Born Again” and “Guardian Devil”, but unless the studio execs are complete fools, they’ll make “Born Again” first, since a major character from BA is killed during GD (hint, hint). Of course they’d have to eliminate Captain America and Doctor Strange from both stories, since I don’t believe 20th Century Fox owns the rights to those characters. But those are small sacrifices.

Yeah Artisan own the rights to both Cap and Dr. Strange.
There aren't rumours for a Born Again movie (Born Again wouldn't work as a 2ND movie IMO but it could be a great 3rd movie.) I'm not fond of Kevin Smith writing the screenplay. I mean, he is a great writer and all but I want to see it made in this decade. The evil Men Do anyone? C'mon The Target part 4 was supposed to hit today and issue 2 hasn't even been released yet!!!!
In interviews with Wizard Magazine, Johnson has mentioned several times that if he returns as director for DD2, he'd be most interested in the "Born Again" storyline.

Would anybody be able to give me a brief description of those two storylines?
In Frank Miller & Dave Mazzucchelli's "Born Again", the Kingpin learns that Matt Murdock is really Daredevil. Rather than killing Matt, as you would think the Kingpin would want to do, he proceeded to psychologically torture him by destroying everything he holds precious in his life; Kingpin froze Murdock's bank accounts, blew up his apartment, ruined his law practice, and ultimately attempted to portray Daredevil as a criminal in the public's eye.
It features the terrific line:
Kingpin: "I have shown him...that a man without hope...is a man without fear."
In "Guardian Devil", Matt becomes protector of a child that could grow up to be either our savior or the anti-christ. DD goes on a wild ride where he isn't sure what is real and what isn't. He questions his own faith in God and must confront the age old question of "Nature vs Nurture". Are we born good or evil, or is it our upbringing that determines our fate? GD also features the return of a classic, if not quite top ranking Spider-Man villain.

I haven't read Smith's Guardian Devil story, but "Born Again" must be done in my opinion. I don't know if I'd watch a Elektra movie.
The only reason I mentioned Hydro-Man and Sandman in Spidey is because Cameron is a master of water, if anyone could make these two cool it would be Cameron.
If they use CGI for the new Batman's, I would be in Hog Heaven. As 4 the Hulk, they will be adapting it mostly from the t.v. series mostly, that's fresh in people's mind, but I would not mind at all if Hulk tosses some tanks around, although keep thinking "Scooby Doo" in the back of my mind with the effects. It looks too goofy.
Like I said bring in the Leader.
