BLACK HISTORY MONTH: Favorite Black comics character?

This being Black History Month and all, thought it might be appropriate to pose this as a topic question: who's your favorite Black comics character (or characters)?

Mine include:
- the cast of "The Boondocks" (though the strip's in need of a major tune-up of late)
- Franklin ("Peanuts")
- Marcus ("FoxTrot")
- Steel
- Icon & Rocket (from Milestone)
- Static (at least on his own cartoon; never really got into the original Milestone comic as much)

The Black Panther is one of my all time favorite super heroes. He's got the spirit mantle of the black panther, he's king of a country that holds most of the world's vibranium, and he beats up Klansmen. What more do you want?

Black Lightning. I actually think he is one of the more interesting DC heroes... it's bad he isn't in the new Outsiders.

Easy winner is Icon and Rocket of Dwayne McDuffie's Icon series for Milestone/DC.

Runners up:

- Black Panther and Falcon in the current Avengers

- Edsel in Mage: The Hero Discovered

- Vixen and Bronze Tiger from John Ostrander's Suicide Squad

- John Stewart in the comics (especially Gerard Jones' Green Lantern: Mosaic), and the Animated Age comics & shows to a lesser extent

Black Panther and Storm because they paved the way for Black Super-Heroes. Black Panther has always been my fave hero cause he showed that he could still kick butt like Batman and Superman. Storm. Ahhhh...my beautiful Ororo. Storm is just the "Queen of Heroines". Storm shows so much power and emotion that some of the X-men don't have. Storm is the basic 3-dimentional character. She has her flaws and she has her demons. Storm has been well writing in comics for years hopefully Bryan Singer is reading this. Mr. Singer this is how you protray the Weather Witch!!!

Why did I choose only three? Because those are the only black super-heroes I enjoy and respect (well, at the moment that is). Static is a great hero,his storylines and villains were well devolped and Dwayne McDuffie came up with him, what more do you want?

I just love Falcon because of his history and because he is just a great hero, not to mention of the sweetest costumes in Marvel. Storm because of all the reasons Storm said. :D
