Not by a long shot. The main difference, Japan hit Pearl Harbor when hardly anybody was there, so the casualty list wasn't as horrific as it could have been if they had attacked later in the day, and then we had a face to the enemy and knew exactly where to strike. Our enemy now is not only hiding in several mid east contries, but there are supporters of this extreme faction on our own soil, and who knows what biological and chemecial weapons they could unleash upon us if they get desperate enough.

It is also unlike PH in that PH was a legitimate military target; the killing of civilians, though an inevitable byproduct, was not the purpose.
