I'm building a webpage that focuses completely on Frank Tashlin's career and I was wondering if any of you guys have some information about the man; triva, birth and death, biography details, ect, just about anything will do. Even things like pictures - I will of course give credit to anyone who sends me one. I haven't seen any webpages on the net dealing soley with Tashlin, so I decided instead of making a Looney Tunes page, I make a Frank Tashlin page.

Well, I can supply birth and death information. He was born on February 19, 1913 and died on May 5, 1972 (he was only 59 years old; the youngest at death of all the WB directors :( ). Weehawken, New Jersey is his birth place. Also some trivia. Well, you may have already known this but he was the first animation director to invent new ways of staging and timing. Some of the scenes in his cartoons were so quick, they were only five frames long! He also stood 6'2 and weighed nearly 300 pounds! And, as you know, he went on to become a successful writer/director in the live action field directing live action movies with a decidedly "cartoon" influence (much to the exasperation of the person reading his script for "Kill the Umpire"). However, appearently the last film he directed in the late 60's did terribly at the box office, ending his directing career. :(
I realize this may not have been a lot of information but I hope it's a good way to get started. Regarding the website itself, MORE POWER TO YOU!!!!! And I can't wait to see it when it finally gets up! Frank Tashlin is one of my all-time favorite cartoon directors namely because of his cartoons' hilarious humor, breathless timing, and flamboyant staging. His batting average at WB in the 1940's is outstanding; I honestly can't think of a single he directed during that time that I didn't like! As mentioned, it sounds like an excellent site and I'm behind you all the way!
