I took a different perspective on the tragedy today when we had to discuss it in english class. We mainly talked about who did it, why certain things are still mysterious, and what kind of retaliation could be taken, while I had my view that we already had it. I said with a great, great, great, horrific, terrible cost, the nation gained a new sense of together-ness, a nation-wide brother-ship sort of. A lot of people had thought we'd become so rebellious (all Americans, not just the young'ins) and it was our weakness. I saw some of it, kids actually cheered just because they thought "fire was cool" and this is juniors and seniors in high school. However, my point is that people came together in that time of need to help those in the Trade Center tragedy, and to prove its not just New York, soon five hour (or more) lines around the entire United States of America were formed to assist those in need. Im proud to be a U.S. citizen in knowing we've come together here, its a nightmare in reality, but it did give us this blessing in disguise of a brothership. In this new era, we can extend that to a new level with these message boards, where people of the same origins can come together and know their amongst friends in more ways than one (whether it be a hobby in common, or a favorite show, or the simple fact of being in the same nation). And Im aware not all of the people here are all for this view, which is why the U.S. allows free speech and your own opinions. Its fine, I don't mind if you disagree, but those who do, I as well as many others are here for you if need be. Nightwing (moderator and fellow poster of these boards) and I are always ready to help when its needed, and this is definetly something where that can be usefull. Thats all I can say on that.
Another thing I wanted to state, is that after school today there was an announcement that many kids wont come to school for fear of the kids who jumped to the conclusion certain race's or religion's had caused this. The U.S. is a free country and all that can be said is that we're coming together, not starting war within ourselves and our schools.
...whew...Now that Im done with my diplomatic views, lets see what you guys think.
