In addition to the previous post about Cowboy Bebop being mentioned in this week's issue of Entertainment Weekly, so was another Adult Swim favorite: Futurama. Although this appearance was due in fact to a previous blurb about Futurama a few issues back. I know it's been a hot topic on this board before about Fox's treatment of Futurama - someone wrote a letter to the editor concerning the same subject.

In Issue #690 of EW (Jan 10 - cover Nicole Kidman), Dalton Ross, the editor of the TV section wrote this about Futurama:

Sunday 11-11:30PM
FUTURAMA (Cartoon Network, TV-PG) Maybe the expectations - that Simpsons creator Matt Groening could create another gem - were too high. Or maybe it just wasn't all that funny. Either way, reruns are here.

In Issue #695 of EW (Feb 14 - cover Nicholson & Sandler), Eric Clark of West Springfield, Mass wrote to the Editor:

Futurama Shock
How can Dalton Ross suggest that Futurama "just wasn't all that funny" when he, and millions of other people, never got a chance to see it (Television: What to Watch)? Anyone who has tried to support this hilarious show can tell you that Fox sometimes pre-empted it for football, and gives it little advertising and less support than its trashy reality shows that took someone 30 seconds to develop. These are the real reasons why Futurama has never enjoyed the success it deserves.

I know that this has been mentioned a ton on this board, I just thought it was interesting that the debate finally made it into a national (and highly subscribed) magazine. :harley:
