Yep, an avatar is the picture under everyone's name. All you have to do is find an image you like and resize it to 75x75 pixels (at the most). Then, go to the bar at the top of every page and click on "control panel." It will take you to a new window. From there, click on "Edit Options," and scroll down to the bottom of the page. It will have an option for an avatar, click on the button that says "Change Avatar". Then click "yes" under "Use Custom Avatar".

You can then either type in a URL for your avatar, or you can hit "browse" and upload one from your own computer.
