Love Bone, my favorite comic currently being published. Such a fantastic combination of humor and adventure. Picking up a single issue at this point can be confusing because it's at the end of a very detailed storyline, but the TPB's are all readily available and I highly recommend them.

I used to read it as a kid, but now I've stopped following the stories. It's a great comic, full of imagination, for kids. :)

Howdy,

Bone is definitely one of my favorite comics out there. One of the best afternoons I spent recently involved vols 5-8 of the TPBs read in one big marathon session.

Great artwork, great characterization, great storyline, and some of the funniest stuff in comics ("Stupid Stupid Rat Creatures!") add up to a terrific package.

I also heartily recommend the Rose mini and the Stupid Stupid Rat-Tails: Adventures of Big Johnson Bone mini. Both well worth the price of admission (even if they misspell "lieutenant" in Rose, I think).

I adore Bone, and I certainly wouldn't say it's "just for kids." I think it's a series that anyone can enjoy.

I have all the trades, and I read them every now and then. The pacing is superb, and Jeff Smith has a knack for characterization. His illustrations seem deceptively simple, yet are remarkably well-crafted.

It's great stuff, all in all.

Bone is just awesome. A buddy of mine got me into it a couple of years ago, and I love it.

did they ever make a "Bone" series?

It was one of a handful of comics I read in high school and college. I picked up my last issue during the summer of 2000, and I haven't given much thought to picking it up since. I kept thinking I might grab the collections as they came out since my biggest complaint was that I'd drop three bucks, pick up an issue that took maybe 4 minutes on the outside to read, then wait several months for the next installment. The plot seemed to be progressing at a very leisurely pace, so much so that even flipping through an issue from a year earlier, not much at all seemed to have changed. I started to lose interest when it veered a little too far into sword-'n-sorcery territory for my tastes.

At one point, I believe it was being talked about, and Jeff Smith was very interested in making it happen. However, something or other fell through. I think Jeff Smith has abandoned plans for doing anything other than comics until the series finishes.
