as some of you may know, i live here in ny and i attend school only 2 blocks away from the world trade center. this morning, around 8:45, i was on my way to classes and i heard the sound of LOUD jet engines behind me (the only other time i've heard a sound as loud as that was at an airplane show). as i looked up, to my horror, i saw a passenger jet playing EXTREMELY LOW as it crashed into the south side of world trade building 1. i ran to my classes and met up with some of my professors, who apparently all believed it was simply an accident.

then, about 20 minutes later, i heard the same loud engine, and unbelievably, the second tower was hit. I LITERALLY FELT LIKE VOMITING. as students burst into tears all around me, i stared in disbelief and horror at the destruction and mayhem that was before me. at that moment, i knew that the US was dealing with a terrorist attack. students herded around every window to get a look, including me, and what i saw was not pleasing. smoke and fire billowed into the sky, and on accassion, i actually witnessed people jumping to their deaths. HOW HOT MUST THE FIRE HAVE BEEN TO MAKE A PERSON JUMP TO HIS/HER DEATH?

about an hour later, as the students sat in mourning, all the lights in my building shut off for about 5 seconds and my school shook. i later found out that i had experienced the first tower collapsing (imagine with how much impact the debris must have fallen with in order to make the electricity shut off in a school 2 blocks away?)

after hearing the attacks at washington, i really felt like a part of me had been killed. as a person of only 25, i've never witnessed any national tragedy until today. i consider myself HIGHLY LUCKY TO BE ALIVE, and as a person that actually saw the first damn plane crash into the building from only a block or so away, i don't think i'll ever be the same.

i know that i'm not saying anything new here, but i just really needed to vent and convey my disbelief and horror to at least one other person. thanks for taking the time to read this. i know i'll never forget it.

I'm glad your ok man...

This whole thing, though I may not appear to be effected by it (I just went outside like any other day..walked dogs..and mowed a lawn), I was scared *expletive deleted*less today....lets hope we can wake up a month from now..with all of this behind us.

I can only imagine what the newspapers will look like tomorrow. I'm going to be going to the happiest part of the paper..the comics..I suggest all of you do as well...as Garfield and Fox Trot are really good comics.. :)

I actually pulled out a Histeria tape and played it aroud 4:00 to let myself get a laugh. I needed it. So please, let yourself get a chuckle at least once today, you won't regret it...

I wonder how my paper will look tomorrow....I bet even the 'Entertainent' section will be full of this. The front, main page will be extended by about 10 pages to accomodate this attack....

I'm VERY glad you are alright, Green-Eye Glow. It's alright to vent, Heaven knows I did when I first heard this...

Speaking of theraputic remedies - I watched the Die Hard movies tonight. Very theraputic to watch Bruce Willis kick the ***es of a bunch of terrorists.

I think everyone needs to do something to get there mind off this awful day. Go rent a movie, or go do something enjoyable. Something, anything to try to take your mind off this for a little while.

Well I imagine every American's dream tonight is going to be nothing but sheer horror. Though I can't even begin to imagine what your's is gonna be like. There is nothing worse than being right in the core of tragedy. I'm sorry man, It really must have been terrifying.

I really missed the Simpson's today. I was looking forward to getting a double dose to lighten my mood from watching hours and hours of the news, but it was cancelled. Maybe I'll watch a movie tonite, I just dont seem in the mood to do schoolwork.

Agreed. I think I'll either read or just draw stuff in a sketchpad... like Failure, I've got some classwork too, but just can't concentrate enough to do it.

And I'm really not looking foward to class tomorrow...

I still have a couple of DVDs sitting around that haven't been watched. I may get to them later tonight...

I know, at least for me, school will be in, but class won't really be in session. This tragedy will be the topic of discussion everywhere for the next few days, no matter where you go. Just keep your spirits high and keep praying...

--bloody censoring program's a bit nutty here. I've had the same thing happen to me on the word "wrist-watch" (hence the hyphen).
For escape, I took my niece out for a stroll after dark, and we watched the highway traffic together. She loves it when I hold her up and let her catch the wind of the big 18-wheelers....
