"When we started working out story ideas for the show, we realized that some of these guys from the old comics are just a little bit too silly for a modern audience to understand," Justice League producer Bruce Timm said. Timm was quoted saying this during the San Diego con this past summer, where he unveiled Justice league designs.

Bruce Timm continued about the villians: "Everybody's got an 'O' at the end of their name, Amazo, Eclipso, Despero, Starro, Kanjar Ro. So Kanjar Ro was one of those guys that we kind of like from the comics, but we looked at him and he was kind of this goofy, bug-faced guy. And he's not really a credible threat to these gods. So, we gave him a secondary villain role."
There will be some villians, like Luthor and The Joker who will have major roles in the series as a villian team.
"So every time on one of the shows that we have a major villain versus the Justice League, if there's like a hench-villain, we'll try to pick out another character from the DC Universe, especially the JLA comics, to put in that part and integrate into the show."
Kanjar Ro will appear in an episode spotlighting Green Lantern. That episode is expected to be the third arc, after the premiere and Superman episode.
Also, be on the lookout for a feature story on the show in TV Guide's monthly and weekly cable magazines.
