Check out this funny artical on A cheasy piblic service ad featuring the Turtles. While I was lreading it, I noticed A small instance of hypocricy.Schools tell us not to use drugs, but yet, they recomend that we take ritalin on A daily basis. What's up with that? Anyway, here's the link.

I take ritalin, to help with the difficulties I have focusing.

I can unconditionally guarantee; it's *not* addicting the way certain narcotics are.

hehehe That was great and I even can remember watching this. In fact I can remember Donatello dilvering all of his lines.

I wonder if the new turtles will do psa's. Or maybe the fact that theydon't have pupils any more may just freak little kids out so much that they do drugs to forget the sight.

That was hilarious. This is the 2nd www.x-entertainment.com article that has been laughing from TZ references. And if you haven't already, PLEASE save yourself and read the hilarious TMNT 'Case of the Killer Pizzas' Review. Oh my gosh. This website has merited itself a place in my 'Favorites'.

i love articles from this website. favorite part of this one:

That's right. "I'm not a chicken, you're a turkey." The line that defined a generation. The comeback that's saved millions from peril. These are words that hold little substance on their own, but come together to form one hell of a showstopping quip. Billy backs off immediately following this, obviously stunned into submission by Joey's artful command of the English language. Plus, he's now faced with two awful truths. Not only is Joey not a chicken, but Billy himself is a turkey! Why oh why couldn't I have come up with something that phonetically perfect when I was a kid? I would've never had to eat rubber cement after that terrible dare in first grade. Joey's gone from zero to hero with a scant seven words, impressing and influencing the entire damn universe to believe in the powers of good now and forever more.

funny stuff.

"He's right! Drug dealers are DORKS - don't even talk to 'em! COWABUNGA!"

"It's pot! You know... marrrajuaaana."Okay, I understand that elementary school isn't riddled with particularly experienced dealers, but this is still a little too much. I kept waiting for them to paint crude devil horns over Billy's forehead. Despite all that, I don't think this charmer has the kind of instincts needed to be a successful drug dealer. There's gotta be someone who looks a little more up to the task of smoking pot than this Joey kid. I mean, how old is he? Seven? Eight? I know some kids start young, but this guy probably wouldn't strike a match, much less spark a joint. The school must have some serious underpopulation issues if this is the kid Billy chooses to peddle ganja towards.

Best. Paragraph. Ever.:

Now folks, this PSA is famous for reasons that go above and beyond a mere anti-drug sentiment. Anyone who's remembered the commercial while reading this probably knows exactly what I'm talking about. Somehow, in the midst of all this 'Just Say No' hooplah and three-year-old drug dealers, we're handed what's now considered the definitive comeback line of the century. Forget the lessons learned, forget the marijuana, forget the Turtles. This is what it's all about. Remember how Evil Billy was calling Good Joey a chicken? Well, nobody likes being called a chicken. Not me, not you, not Joey, not Marty McFly, not anyone. But how do you get past the infamous 'chicken insult' without giving into temptation and proving your courage by doing something stupid? Simple. You just need a great comeback zinger. Friends and compatriots - I think Joey has just mastered that fine art. Here's his response:

I'M NOT A CHICKEN, YOU'RE A TURKEY.

I'M NOT A CHICKEN, YOU'RE A TURKEY!

I'M NOT A CHICKEN, YOU'RE A TURKEY!

That's a great article :D

That old public service ad is actually on one of my old Ninja Turtles tapes that I watched the other week. I'm very anti-drugs myself, but even as a kid I thought that chicken/turkey line was cheesy. Thing is that I used to know a lot of other kids back in elementary school that used this line whenever someone would call them a chicken. It was up there with such classic comebacks as "I know you are, but what am I" and "I'm rubber, you're glue" for about a year. :p

I too remember that, um, infamous ad back in the days of the war on drugs. Sadly, I remember a lot of other crap on that page as well, whether I want to or not. (and then there is the doubting I have of whether or not I should download "The Secret of the Sword"...yes, that one)

DL it, but don't watch it all at once. I swear, even though it's only ninety minutes, that's the longest frickin' movie to sit through. It always feels like three hours whenever I watch it on video. (got for a buck when a video store was closing it's doors)

Why? Why make this horrible wreck? Why not just show kids the people who are hooked on this stuff? That will keep you off of drugs.

As for Ritalin, I don't take it, I think it's overperscribed, and that too many people use it.

X-Entertainment RULES! :D
The writer really out did himself with that article. Thats the funniest thing I've seen since the Cartoon All Stars To The Rescue review.

Too many parents try to get their kids on it for the wrong reason; they're under the impression it's a miracle cure for learning difficulties. It isn't.

What it can do, when used responsibly, is reduce problems with distractability. And while it doesn't work equally well for everybody- kids or adults- it can often be a real help. In some cases, a *huge* help.

The PSA reminds me of a time I watched the ad with some other kids about 10 years ago. Basically, we're watching the ad (I don't know if it was the whole ad or the short ad without the kids watching the TV), then we get to the part where Joey tells Billy, "I'm not a Chicken, you're a turkey!" In the ad, Joey then pushs Billy aside while he gets away from him. When the ad got to that point, one of the kids who was watching the ad with me then pretended to be Billy smacking Joey for pushing him aside. Thus, 10 years later, I now find it to be funny if the ad actually ended like that, with Billy beating the crap out of Joey. Besides, the TMNT PSA sure beats the crappy PSA's that air today.

I swear, this had remained airing in recent years on my local ABC affiliate (WABC/7), even between Disney's programs.

Yeah, I remember it, as it still airs, but they only put on the last few seconds. The article really brought back memories...

Not me, not you, not Billy, not Marty McFly...LOL

I almost remember this commercial word for word! Even the turkey! I tried that one on my older brother later. I was grounded for a week.

Seriously. Sure, it was cheesy, but it got the point across.
