Go out and buy the latest TV Guide (Feb. 8-14)!

There is an ad for the Columbia House TV Favorites and it prominently features Woody! And, best of all, you can order the DVDs!

The first DVD is only 99 cents (plus shipping), the second is $9.95 (plus shipping), and after that they are $19.95 each (plus shipping).

Are these Woody Woodpecker cartoons from the 40s and 50s or 90s?

I saw the order form in my TV Guide!!! I guess I'll have to pry open the ol' wallet and add them to my DVD collection...

Now, when will Warners follow their lead?!?

I've been wary of purchasing from a video club, but this looks too good to pass up. I'm mailing in my order form today!

I mailed out my form today, too. Let's see who gets the Woody DVDs first, Thad. :p ;)

And here's the proof they really do exist:

It was also nice to see Columbia House promoting the Woody line. The front of the TV Guide insert featured a nice picture of Woody right there alongside pictures of Lucy and the cast of All in the Family.

I got something similar directly from Columbia House. It said that I could get my first vol. free, just pay for shipping. I chose the DVD version, and hopefully it will come sometime this week or next week. Some of the other forms that I recieved in the past said that it was availible on DVD too, but I ordered the Looney Tunes series instead (bad mistake). I cant wait till I get them :D

there's ten volumes? Ack!

That means....1 at .49, 1 at 9.95, 8 at 19.95...plus the ungodly amounts they charge for shipping and packaging (something like $2 per item)...

ah, man, that's almost $200

That's a good price for the first volume (i alway believe the USA dollar were less dear compared to Canadian dollar), but i am don't know where that's possible for exported in Canada

So yes, give me the telephone number!!! :D

I'd love to get the DVD but would I have to join them and pay for 10 more later on?

edit: I just realized it is a series of DVDs. I'm assuming I can't order these from the US. I'd have to go through Columbia House Canada. But their website doesn't say much. No surprise there. Has anyone from Canada ordered these?

I dealt with Columbia House before and they were such a pain.

I am just curious. Do any other cartoons besides "Knock Knock" contain edits? Does "Bathing Buddies" still have its reference to "No Opium Smoking" (http://lantz.toonzone.net/1940s/bathing03.jpg)?

 !!! Is "Knock Knock" edited on the DVD Jon, or are you referrring to the TV airings of the "Woody Woodpecker Show"?

Yup... according to Jerry's site, the print of "Knock Knock" on the DVD abruptly ends after Andy pours salt on Woody's tail. We don't get to see the woodpeckers from the nuthouse visiting the Panda household to pick up Woody. :( :(

That edit is kinda ABC-esque don'tcha think?

I think editing cartoons on DVD is going too far. Especially for a studio like Lantz whose cartoons are rarely seen by the public's eye.

Is the 99 cents/$9.95 deal only available via TV Guide, or will they hook me up with it over the telephone?
