It's Baaaaaaaaaack!!

Welcome to "John Delaney's Sketch of the Week"!

The Intro
Out of the kindness of his art, John Delaney is doing something big for the fans - an exclusive weekly sketch for the fans who frequent Toon Zone!

Every week, he will draw a new picture based on the results of the poll. That means that *we* fans choose what the image will be!

The Low Down:
The contest will begin every Monday, and end at 5pm Eastern the following Friday, giving fans a solid five days to choose. You can only vote ONCE! John will then draw the sketch over the weekend and we'll present at the beginning of the following week. The characters must be animation/comic characters drawn in the Animated style, and if you have any requests for future polls, send me an email with your ideas! Keep an eye out on the Comics Forum for all the latest action!

You can also post your thoughts on the poll in this thread.

The Rules:
We ask that all users encourage each other to abide by the rules.

Rule #1
Respect others on the boards. It's one thing to disagree with the opinions of others and discuss it. It's another to insult them by verbally bashing the choices of the poll. Do not insult any choices on the poll.

Rule #2
If rule 1 cannot be adhered to, you will be warned. If the situation happens again, banning will occur. There is no strike three.

Rule #3
The moderators reserve the right to suspend the poll for a week (or more) if they deem that the situation warrants.

Rule #4
Campaigning is allowed and encouraged, but in consideration of everyone with slower connections, all images should be thumbnailed. If an image program is not available to assist in that, then they must be linked to. Any post with images larger than 300 pixels in width, will have to be deleted.

Requests:
Keep on sending requests in!!! If there's a character you'd like to see back on the poll again, send requests for that, too. Please keep in mind, if a character has won a previous poll, he or she is not eligible for future polls (unless certain circumstances apply... i.e. Batman & Superman in a group JL Shot). Send all requests to delaney_requests@toonzone.net (http://forums.toonzone.net/member.php?s=&action=getinfo&userid=5153). Do NOT send them via Private Message. Any requests sent in via Private Message are not considered for the polls.

The Gallery:
Make sure to take a look at the Gallery (http://www.toonzone.net/comics/john-delaney/), which collects all the images done for this poll.

THIS WEEK
Love is in the air with Valentine's Day quickly approaching, so what better way to celebrate the Hallmark Holiday of Love than with the strangest assortment of characters to never ever meet! Yes! That's right... it's the Odd Couples!

Got all of that? Great! Let the voting begin on "John Delaney's Sketch of the Week"!

Entertaining as the Croc Hunter and Killer croc is, I had to vote for Apu and Aku.

Granted it would be one funny story to hear how Croc, almost got the croc hunter. (if a follow up drawing was ever done.)

When making my choice, my mind wandered into this small sketch between Aku, and Apu. Aku is shopping in the Quick E Mart (spelling).

Aku: This is 3.50, 1 dollar more than all of the other stores.

Apu: This is my store, and I'll charge whatever I want..

Aku: But, I am Aku, and this is my world, and my word is law!!!!

Apu: Yes yes, good good, pay 3.50, or get your world out of my store.

Aku slams 3.50 on the table and walks out muttering:

Apu: Thank you, come again.

-----------------------------------------
I don't know why, but that amused me...

Although I'm not a fan of the (Cartoon) cartoon, I'd have to day Ed, Edd and Eddy. With how nuts Ed is, it seems like a natural fit that I'd love to see.

Kudos to John for getting this back going. I just hope we don't set him back again, lol.

Every time Samurai Jack's been up for John Delaney's sketch, I've voted for him.
With the dogged determination of the Crazy Drooling Fan that I am, I will even vote to see John draw Jack with a rat, if that's what it takes!

(Now that I think about it, it could be pretty funny. It would be cool to see Jack being trained by Master Splinter, maybe in the manner of Luke Skywalker with Yoda!

Yay! Mistah Delaney is back!

Anyway, it was a toss-up for Steve & Croc or Pinky & Brainiac on this one...either one is fine by me. I love silly puns, yet I love big evil mutant dudes taking on Australians...it's win-win! :D

First, let me say how happy I am to see the sketch polls are back! :D Secondly, My vote went for Pepe Le Pew & Catwoman because he's my #1 favorite WB character and being this the 2nd odd couple poll, I think he and Catwoman (Batman: TAS) would make an interesting couple!

Well, good luck everyone!

But so many odd choices...

I can't pass up a chance to see Pinky and Brainiac. That's such an odd combination I want it to win just to see if it can be done well.

Great to see this poll back. When they first announced that John was taking time off so he could get some work done, a bunch of people replied and said, "GOOD," because he deserved it, but I was like, "That's not good. We should be running John like a work horse until there's nothing left." I mean, am I right? ;)

Anyway, I voted the hell out of Croc Hunter and Killer Croc. That would be the greatest scene ever:

Croc Hunter enters Killer Croc's pen.

Croc Hunter: "The pens at Arkham were filling up fast, so it was time to move Killer Croc to a larger enclosurement. First we fed him some meat to slow down his response time."

Croc Hunter throws some pale fish into Killer Croc's gaping mouth. His jaws snap down on the fresh treats. They have green fins, red lips, and big smiles.

Killer Croc: "This fish tastes funny."

Croc Hunter: "Crocs are naturally hostile. They can't help it. But I love each and every one, and I would risk my life for one, even while he's trying to kill me. They are beautiful creatures."

Killer Croc belches and unbuckles his pants. Croc Hunter jumps on his back and holds his jaws shut. Killer Croc falls to the ground, with Croc Hunter's arm locked tightly around his neck. Some guards in khakis jump on his back to hold him down. Another guard brings out a giant wooden crate and opens one end of it. Croc Hunter starts to tie a rope around Killer Croc's jaws.

Croc Hunter: "Get the tarp! Get the tarp!"

Killer Croc jumps up and throws the guards across the pen. They run out. Croc Hunter's rope snaps. Killer Croc picks Croc Hunter up and spins him violently above his head.

Croc Hunter: "You're all right. You're all right. You're naughty!"

Croc Hunter: "Right now, this little fella wants to kill me. But I have to go limp and show no resistance so he'll let me go."

Killer Croc throws Croc Hunter against a brick wall.

Killer Croc: "I'll waste you like so much raw meat!"

Killer Croc jumps at Croc Hunter with his mouth open. Croc Hunter springs to the side and Killer Croc slams into the wall.

Croc Hunter: "Out in the wild, and in asylums for the criminally insane, there's nothing more useful than a good pair of hiking boots."

Killer Croc tries to bite Croc Hunter's leg, but Croc Hunter kicks him in the face. Killer Croc gets up and stops suddenly. His eye wanders to Terri Irwin, Croc Hunter's hot wife.

Terri Irwin: "Go Steve!"

Croc Hunter jumps on Killer Croc's back and locks his arm around his neck again. He then ties the rope around Killer Croc's jaws and throws a tarp over his head. Croc Hunter's dog barks from the side.

Croc Hunter: "Didja see that? Crocs are very territorial, and this one was mighty ticked with me. Crikey, that was close. But he had to be moved to a better habitat, so we could set him up with a great sheila. And if there's one thing I'm not afraid of, it's helping crocs."

Killer Croc is thrown into a pen with Baby Doll.

Croc Hunter: "A penguin almost bit me nose off when I was four years old. Next up, I face my fears when Arkham Asylum gets its new resident. I can't wait."

I'm undecided between Samurai Jack & Master Splinter and Killer Croc & Steve Irwin The Crocodile Hunter.

Seeing Splinter win would be nice since the new TMNT show starts on Saturday.

On the other hand, I'd really like to see how Killer Croc vs. Steve Irwin does.

As is true of *any* sketch poll, Mr. Delaney being the talented guy that he is.

But I guess it's extra-specially true of this poll- all of those nominees have potential to make us smile! Or even roar with hilarity.

Hello my friends, and welcome back Mr. Delaney. Every time I've requested characters for these polls, they've all eventually made it into a poll, with one exception. Maybe the mods found the choice inapropriate, and I will respect that, the character was Eddie of Iron Maiden. I'm voting for Ed, Edd and Eddie, in the hopes that John will be impulsive, and give us a tripple threat sketch; Ed(CB), Edd(E,E&E) & Eddie(IM). :D Okay, it will never happen, but I can dream can't I?

I had to go with Pinky and Brainiac,

Actually come to think of it, Brain and Brainiac aren't all that different, If the brain were a superpowered regular sized cyorg, he could give Brainiac a run in the megalomania department.

I would have also liked to see Catwoman with a white stripe painted down her back being chased by Pepe'.

I have to admit Steve and Croc are an inspired choice but that guy is just too danged easy to make fun of.

Well, I think you have to take into consideration the choices offered. If we were interested in romantic pairings, I'm not quite sure which couple we would vote for!
 :D
(While this is completely irrelevant, speaking of romantic couples, Steve and Terry Irwin--phew! You would not believe what that woman has said in interviews is the key to their happy marriage! :sweatdrop: )

Well another DC/Marvel related Comic drawing wins again, I don't know why most people vote for those things, I have no problem with it a bit, but is it that the ToonZone Spirt that gives this fandom a win every time?

> (While this is completely irrelevant, speaking of romantic couples, Steve and Terry Irwin--phew! You would not believe what that woman has said in interviews is the key to their happy marriage! :sweatdrop: )(Well, I guess you would believe, since they're married, but it's how, er, candid she is about it.) <

Y'know, that's not uncommon among people in the biological-sciences field; they tend to be uninhibited about discussing reproductive behaviors 'cause it's basic to their studies.

I, for one, don't bother keeping track of who's DC and who's Marvel; I just vote for the character(s) that I'd most like to see sketched. And in this case the winner is only 50% DC- Mr. Irwin is a category unto himself.

I am *really* looking forward to seeing what John does with this subject!

Why do you look at it this way? I most certainly dont. I see it as being a VERY VERY funny sketch.

if MIB was not in this, I may have voted for Ed because I enjoy the character. What do you say to that? Ed's an anime character, and Edd and Eddy are TV characters. AND I voted MIB (obviously) and even though they were spawned of comic books-- they weren't "DC/MARVEL"

comic book, anime, and tv characters have all had wins, so I do not want to see a "Oh this stuff ALWAYS WINS" sort of thing here. We're doing great and we don't need to start.

There is nothing that gives any specific thing a win. It's other choices, and the possibility of an amazingly great sketch that draws peope to vote for particular thing.

Well it isn't that much of a suprise. Just hope Pinky and Brainiac get another chance in the soon-to-be future.

well I did have an idea for a romantic couples for the lauching of the poll. Characters like.... Jean & Cyclops, Nightwing & Oracle, Catwoman & batman would of probably been in the poll but I guess the idea just ended on the cutting room floor.

Poor deluded Storm, this is only the first week back. The games have just begun *laughs evily*

Spike Mcdougal calm down it's just a poll. Sorry that your characters lost but there's a plus side Mr. Delaney's work.

While I'm a diehard Batman fan, I have to admit I voted more for the Crocodile Hunter than for Killer Croc. I'm hoping Mr. Delaney doesn't humiliate Steve Irwin too much by Croc ;) He's wacky, but I love the guy.

Anyway good voting folks! It's great to have these back.

Then the gods really *must* be crazy. :D

I, too, hope John doesn't plan to draw Steve getting pounded by Killer Croc. Steve scaring the bejabbers out of Croc would be much funnier.

I would love to see something towards the line of Croc sitting there and Steve's standing around with camera crews and is looking "at the camera" (viewer) and has a word bubble that reads something like "Boyoboy, here's a real beaut! Here we have the very dangerous Killer Croc!" and have him say something he usually says on the show, toss in a 'Crikey!' and a dumb, raised-eyebrow look on Croc with a 'What the heck is this guy doing??" and you wouldn't have anyone getting the crud beat out of em LOL.

It'd be great if it was something like the Mac Hall cameos. XD "The rare and elusive comp sci major."

Awwww, Pepe & Selina lost! :( Oh, well. Can't wait to see what'll happen with Steve & Croc. :)

Although, it would've been nice to see how Selina would've reacted being smothered to death by Pepe. (Probably would've clawed his eyes out. :p ) I can dream, can't I?
