Why no bitmap avitars?

Well I went to change my avitar tonight and found out that I can't use bitmap avitars. Why are they not allowed? thanks :)

You should be able to use bitmap avatars. Did the site specifically say that you couldn't use bitmap avatars, or was there another reason they gave. Maybe your avatar is too large to download.

Hmmm I don't know for sure if there is a rule against bitmap avatars, but bitmaps are normally a much larger file size than jpegs or gifs so it might just be bigger than the maxmium 10240 bytes file size. My advice is to re-save it as a JPEG Interchange format file which should drop the file size siginificantly.

Well I figured out how to resave it as a jpeg, but I'm going to stay with my royoky(s/p) aviatar. Thanks for the help. :)
