View Full Version : Thoughts on new 'Venom' series?

I was wondering if anyone has any comments or thoughts on the new Venom series being released on the Tsunami imprint in April? The premise of the series sounds a bit like 'The Thing' - that horror movie from the 1980's. It sounds like the Venom symbiote will be jumping from body to body - but then what about Ediie Brock?

Anyone have any thoughs or opinion on this new Venom series?

when i saw the teaser ad for this series, i was like word. venom is the greatest spider-man villian and i am looking forward to this new series. hopefully if this series goes well, venom will be the villian in one of the upcoming spider-man movies.

If they do this right. It could be a great series. As long as the avoid reusing the "Lethal Protector" idea with all thier might.

I thought Marvel got passed this. Venom is a Spider-man VILLIAN. He should only be used in stories that feature ol' web head himself and simply put he should be kept out of his own series. If Spider-man is a recurring character in this series then I'll pick this up but if he's left out then I aren't bothering. Its not that Venom is not an interesting character or anything but he's a villian, a damn good one at that, and should be left as a villian.

I believe Eddie is going to still be around, I don't know if a few issues in Eddie and 'Venom' combine once again but you never can read a Writer's mind (Except for Judd Winick, ofcourse). As I said in an earlier topic I will pick up this series till it's very end, even if it's art and writing suck and it's price is $5.95 an issue. I just will.

I do not think it will last long however, it just seems like a lost cause. Go figure.

I hope this is more to repair the character, bring fear back into the character, and then he returns in Spider-man. After venom had his series in the 90s, and all the symbiote stories...just destroyed what made Venom, Venom...
