Last week my dream came true when I recevied over 50 Columbia Pictures Cartoon classics. And I would like everyone to find out, about these classic gems. And I'll offer my 3 top Columbia Toon picks.
KRAZY KAT-One of my favortie animated felines, this is one very good series, consdiering that the cartoons didn't follow the true comic strip style with the only exception of 1936's LIL'ANGEL. It's very interesting to how Krazy Kat changed over the years in this series. From 1929 to 1934 Krazy looked like Mickey Mouse, and then in 1934 Krazy became a cute looking cat, but the cartoons are very enjoyable.I do have Krazy's entire film career from 1916 to 1962 on video.
My Picks: THE BANDMASTER, BARS AND STRIPES, LIL' ANGEL
SCRAPPY-This is one of the lesser known cartoon series from the studio, but it's a great cartoon series to watch.Scappy made his debut in the 1931 cartoon "Yelp Wanted", in which Scrappy has to get medicine for his sick dog, which leads into trouble, just to get the medicine for his dog.Scrappy did look like the long legion of Mickey knock offs, in the first three years until me was redesigned a little human boy in 1935.An great cartoon series and one not to miss.
My Picks:YELP WANTED, THE DOG SNATCHER, FALSE ALARM
FOX AND CROW -This is my favorite Columbia shorts, PERIOD....When you get the chance to see this excellent series, and you will see why that CHUCK JONES was inspired for the ROAD RUNNER & COYOTE cartoons. The series first entry, "THE FOX AND THE GRAPES", is a brilliant cartoon dircted by Frank Tashlin, and the Fox is voiced by Mel Blanc. This is one violent series and just plain funny, I really laughed my ***** off when watching these cartoons. This cartoon series is Columbia's best cartoons in the history of their cartoon studio.
My Picks:THE FOX AND THE GRAPES, MR.MOOCHER, TOLL BRIDGE TROUBLES
These are some great cartoons to check out...I highly recomend it very much
