Who watches this show? Usually I go past it when it is on, but today, I decided to watch an episode of it. It was pretty good, and the voices wern't bad. Is it more violent than your typical action cartoon(Spider-Man, Samurai Jack, Batman: TAS and Beyond, Gargoyles, etc.)?

It should be violent. The books(Which I highly recommend)are pretty gory sometimes. Even toned down, the cartoon's pretty rough.

I read the books a lot when I was a kid, but I never scoped the animated series. Anybody seen it? Would you reccomend it?

I'd LIKE to see it, but the PBS affiliate here doesn't carry it.

The book's are sooooooooo much better. "Mattimeo", the show wasn't too bad but I gave it more slack because it is my favourite book of the series.

Well, that's pretty much a given. Books have a natural advantage over media presentations; they leave it to you to imagine the described events, so your mind gets more involved.

Well, the series is WAY toned down and is very, very unfaithful to the books, but it's still better than some of the junk PBS Kids runs. (Teletubbies, anyone?) Also, it's surprisingly violent for a kids show on PBS, but is far, far from the gore-o-rama that is Watership Down.

Watership Down (The animated series) took till the season finally of season 2 before the first on screen death. (I really want Watership Down season 3 in english but that is a diffent story) Also Watership Down:tas goes much farther away from the book then Redwall does.

I think it is good compromise since I don't think PBS would have run it if they didn't tone it down.

It's pretty good and its a better alternative to the junk they show on tv in the afternoon here. There aren't any local affiliates that show cartoons in the afternoon anymore, its just COPS or the show with the guy who talks to dead family members. :(
