Over the weekend, I bought the DVD "Uncensored Bosko, Volume 1". Not a bad collection because it contains the first 14 Bosko cartoons, including the pilot film with Rudolph Ising. Most of them were Sunset/Guild prints and the Looney Tunes title card featured Buddy and not Bosko. Two of them had their original titles. All in all, I must say that my attitude towards Bosko has changed a bit. I still believe a little Bosko goes a long way, but I must admit I was entertained.
Next purchase - "Uncensored Bosko - Volume 2"!

Hey, lislebartman, were those cartoons windowboxed? Plus, is there any truth to that rumour that the "Bosko Video" icon appears on-screen any time?
Thanks

Yes, a few of the cartoons were window-boxed; most were not (full-screen). No, the Bosko Video icon did not show up on any of the cartoons as I watched them. The DVD is from Image Entertainment, a subsidiary of Universal, I believe. It is this company that has released some older Universal titles, such as "Sixteen Candles" and "Monty Python's The Meaning of Life" on DVD.
Off the subject, it looks as though Universal is re-releasing some of their older titles through their own home video division. Many of them were initially released through Goodtimes Home Video. Now some of those titles will be released through Universal directly, hopefully in anamorphic widescreen! :)

Image Entertainment also released a DVD in 1999 called
"Rembrandt Films' Greatest Hits." It featured many
rare Gene Deitch cartoons that were made in Prague.
And, no, it didn't contain Deitch's T&J shorts.
