What do you think of the anime that airs on HBO and Cinemax? Ninja Scroll, Goku I: Midnight Eye, Wicked City, and Vampire Hunter D are great. I like the fact that these movies air uncut. Why is it that HBO and Cinemax don't show more anime?

THAT WOULD BE GREAT!
Semi free uncut movies!

Wasn't Vampire Hunter D on CN when G-Force was on...

I don't remember anime ever being aired on HBO or Cinemax! Man, I got to check out the listings if what Memphis Bleek said is true!

I think it would be awhile before any anime would be on those channels.

HBO and Cinemax very rarely show the anime that they have. HBO and Cinemax show their anime maybe once or twice a year. HBO and Cinemax in the past have shown Golgo 13: Queen Bee, Wicked City, Ninja Scroll, Vampire Hunter D, and Goku I: Midnight Eye.
Hunting for it, and nothing...

It happens so rarely. I remember seeing Ninja Scroll and Wicked City on at like 3 a.m. well over a year ago. But I haven't seen it since. I think they don't want to go all into anime like the action channel did, but its nice that they delve into it once in a while.

That would have to be Action on the Encore networks that shows it.

It's somewhat outside the scope of this thread, but Showtime airs various Dirty Pair episodes... I think daily.

While those channels do, Showtime does as well. I taped it off there about a year ago. Oddly enough, the same time period I taped the movies mentioned above off Cinemax (Wicked City, Vampire Hunter D, etc.). Great that they show them, since Sci-Fi stopped.

Princess Mononoke and the X movie were both on Showtime recently as well. However, Mononoke aired really late at night, and again really early in the morning. It would be nice if they made a steady block for it, like one of those Starz channels was doing. Otherwise going through the listings each day is almost like trying to find a needle in a haystack.
But, then again, I suppose it's also a good sign that these channels are treating anime movies like any other movie.

I remember a few years back, they showed anime movies on the SciFi channel, fairly uncut (except for very extreme parts). I wonder if they still do it.

A great place to check for anime listings on HBO and Cinemax or any other premium cable channel is ANIMEONTV (http://www.animeontv.com).
