happyheathen has a terrific idea (IMHO):

Since this board likes strange topics (soft drinks went HOW many pages? Toilet paper??!!! )

How about a 'Weird Link' feature - something that someone has come across that most would not know existed, but might enjoy?

as always, suitable for all ages, non-inflamatory.

I wonder if we can make a game out of it, too. "Keep The Links Going."

The rules (we'll see if they work):

1. Anyone can contribute a link. Weird, freaky, and unusual; evidence that the web has stranger corners than we've ever imagined or feared. IMPORTANT: All sites must be PG or lower.

2. Only one link per day may be posted. All other links put up during that day will be removed by a mod (me, I guess). Any number of replies may be put up, but the replies themselves cannot contain links (except for those in sig lines).

3. Links are made on a first come-first link basis. The first person who gets there that day gets to put the link up for that day.

4. The "day" runs from the time of the last posted link through the next 24 hours. 24 hours later, another link is eligible to go up.

5. Once a poster has put up a link, he or she is INELIGIBLE to put up another; one link for each person and that is it. Everyone gets to take a turn . . .

6. . . . until the link chain is broken. This happens if ANOTHER 24 hours goes by without a new link being added. That is, if 48 hours elapses from the time of the last posted link, then the chain is broken. If this happens, then the slate is wiped clean, and anyone who posted a link before gets to post a link again. Afterward, they are again ineligible to post a link. Until a full day goes by without a link . . .

7. Discussion in this thread of the linked material is welcomed and encouraged. If a discussion continues for a long period or ranges O/T, it may be split into its own thread.

How does this sound?

Since this is happyheathen's idea, I'd like to give him pride of place and let him go first, but he's logged off, so I'll put up the link he proposed in his thread "How about," where he broached this idea. Since I've done it for him, this will count as my post; happyheathen, though, is still eligible to put up another link. (Since he came up with the idea, he gets two cracks at the ball. :D )

This is the link: http://www.halted.com/

Next link becomes available 24 hours from the first posting of this note.

Hey Folks!

1. click on the link

2. reply with your thoughts on it, or, on the idea of a weird links thread.

It's Easy! It's Fun! Be the First on Your Block!

Oh my goodness!

I still worry about lightning, meteors and frozen chunks of airline lavatory discards falling from the sky. Now I can add a new worry: Home built sky jalopies. :D

Does this look like a 'jalopy'?

"She's tres chic, but is she airworthy?" :D

Seriously, though, this is really impressive. Proof that your last name doesn't have to be "Boeing" to get yourself off the ground.
