Do you think AOL's problems will affect DC comics?

I was just reading how the head of AOL is stepping down because they had like the biggest financial loss any company has ever had in basically the history of time. What's going to happen now? Do you think this will affect DC comics at all?

Steven Grant addressed this in his Permanent Damage column this week (http://www.comicbookresources.com/columns/?column=10). DC is supposedly one of the few divisions of WB that almost never loses money in a year, and the general chaos around AOL/TW probably won't affect them all that much. The AOL/TW change that might affect them is that WB is trying to sell off its book publishing division (which, according to Grant, makes tons of money for AOL/TW -- makes perfect sense to sell THAT part off, I suppose...). Since DC distributes trade books via the WB publishing arm and, apparently, the publishers don't like dealing with DC all that much, it's possible that DC will need to find another distributor for their bookstore product.

Even so, I don't think there's going to be an ocean of change over any of this.

If anything, I'd see them doing a media blitz (for better or for worse), trying to make a huge profit to make up for the losses. As Ace said, DC is a pretty solid investment, but if they see DC as breaking even amidst the loss, they may try to turn it into the profit maker they need to cover the losses.

I'm sure DC Comics will survive in any case. But anyway, if anything it might just get sold to another company...and maybe they'll treat DC Comics properties better than WB did. Would that mean though, that the Justice League cartoon and the other DC tv shows that are made by WB would be canceled? (That is if such a thing was to happen)
