This comparison must have been on this board or one of its neighbors previously, but since I just dropped in, I'd like to know, what is the general opinion? Is the fave Grayson or Drake?
(I must say Drake appeals to me more than Grayson)...
so,...what's the word? ;)

If we're talking about the animated versions, then easily Grayson, who we've seen as both Robin and Nightwing. Tim Drake wasn't in as many episodes and, to me, wasn't nearly as interesting as his comic book counterpart.
If we're looking at the comics, I would again go with Grayson. It's a lot closer, since there's been a lot of great development for Drake. But I've found the Grayson/Wayne tension through the years so interesting. And we've seen him not only as Robin along side Wayne, but also solo and as leader of a team (Titans). During the last couple years, it was great to see him and Bruce finally settle their differences, as well as to see a relationship start/grow with Huntress.

I like Dick better than Tim, but I've never really seen that many episodes that Tim was in.

In the cartoons, I'd definitely go with Tim. I absolutely despised Grayson in the show.
In the comics, IMO, the only good Robin is a dead one.

You didn't like Grayson in the show? Really? Why?
Personally, I think DG was my favorite character from the shows, mmm, well maybe except for Bruce.
As for the comics, I guess Grayson, I haven't read much of the newer comics so I don't know as much about Drake though.

Well, its for a number of reasons. Mainly, I've always hated the whole sidekick thing, and its the one thing in the Batman mythos I'd love to just burn out of existence. One of my favorite comic stories is "Death in the Family" because they finally killed off a Robin! And the DG in the show just reminds me of everything that was hated about the Jason Todd Robin - cocky, obnoxious, doesn't know when to keep his trap shut. I just hate everything about the character.

I'm talking of the animated series...
Frankly, I think Grayson was a bit too old to be the little teenage sidekick...well sure, Lit'l Tim was of course too young to fight super criminals, but he wasn't that pathetic (don't get me wrong)...I think Tim is a much cooler Robin that Grayson...

I like Tim the best (Duh!)..hehe. I like Grayson too, but I like the fact that Robin can go out on his own and stuff like that....well..not in animated series...in his own comic line and all of that..

DG would whoop Tim's booty any day. DG was and still is the best Robin.

Oh a battle of the guys advocating their namesakes eh?? You're on!! lol. Well by that stupid remark you can tell I'm a DG advocate for Robin. Although, it's very ironic because I was once only for the BTAS Batman and Robin, but these days I like Dick as Nightwing better, because it reflects a lot about Dick, Bruce, and Dick and Bruce's relationship.
But I didn't find Dick's Robin too big, too old, or too annoying. If anything, Tim has more of the wize cracking personality than Dick did. Dick was there to add the comic relief, as many writers and stories do. It wasn't over the top, it was just right. And it can generalize the type of fans the show brings in, because the fan base wasn't always necessarily composed of tragedy lovers who love stories like that of Bruce.

Yeah, I think Grayson did better on his own (I mean better in the sense that I liked him better as Nightwing than as Robin), but he always carries some grief or anxiety with him, he's trying to prove something...that he manages on his own prolly...It's like he tries to fight the statement "the world doesn't need another hero"....nah, Grayson is awright, but Drake is a better Rob... ;)

Well, i don't really have much to say except i like Dick better. I really did love Tim and all, but i favored Bruce and Dick's relationship over the other.
*Note: shouldn't this be on the JL board? Not nitpicking or anything, just noticing

Point taken. Sometimes we forget where we are.
As far as the underlying personality, I like Grayson better, but mostly that's because he is older and has more of a personality to begin with. If you're asking which "Robin" I like better, I incline toward Clayface's POV, that any "Robin" is usually a distraction.
Tim Drake

I obviously like Tim Drake better as Robin. But I love DG because of the interaction we see in TNBA when he's Nightwing. So overall I guess I'd have to say Dick Grayson honestly.
Robin's Reckoning was so much better than Sins of the Father.

With some notable exceptions (Robin's Reckoning for Dick, Never Fear for Tim), I could have done without both versions. I always felt that the best episodes of Batman: TAS were the ones with Batman taking on the villain solo (Heart of Ice, Mad as a Hatter, and Feats of Clay being examples). The Robins (and Batgirl for that matter) distracted from what was important: the one-on-one physical and psychological combat between the Dark Knight and his enemies.

But I think we have seen flashes of the darkness from Grayson. I noted in particular the way Robin threatened one of the baddies at the beginning of the first part of the story dealing with Tony Zucco. The second demonstrated that very well also, as we saw Grayson's rage and anger toward his parents' killer.
And as Nightwing in TNBA, we certainly saw a grim and independent side that Bruce has. I've seen a lot of similarities between the two, which leads me to believe we could have gotten a lot of Batman/Robin episodes that still contained the dark, psychological edge that's important to the stories.
