The Dark Knight Striles Back. New creative teams. A new direction. Is Batman ready for all of this? According to <a href="http://www.comicon.com/ubb/Forum13/HTML/000306.html">Comic Newsarama</a>, he may have no choice.
To being, DC Comics announced the first issue of Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Strikes Again - probably the most highly anticipated comics event of the post speculator-boom era - has been placed on their schedule for a December, 2001 release. Ths could be the series to topple X-Men out of the top spot.
Issue #1 of the three-issue, 80pp prestige-format limited series is scheduled for a December 5th on-sale date, and the schedule calls for subsequent issues to be released in six-week intervals. And because January is a 'Fifth Week' month, this means the series is scheduled to ship monthly, with issues #2 and #3 being released in January and February, respectively.
Each issue will retail for $7.95 US, a step down from the rumored $10.95. The book will cost about $13.50 in Canada.
Aside from the TDKSB news, DC also pulled another rabbit out of the hat. It was also announced artist Steve Lieber (<i>Hawkman</i>) will take over the regular penciling duties on Detective Comics beginning with next February's issue #767. The move marks a reunion of sorts, the first time Lieber, writer Greg Rucka, and editor Bob Schreck have worked on a large-scale project since the original Whiteout miniseries at Oni. Martinborough will work on other DC projects.
