why does every American Idol reject sound like corny supervillains?
They all swear terrible revenge on Simon. They come off sounding even more pathetic.
"I'll be back."
"You haven't seen the last of me."
"You'll be sorry."
"You'll RUE the day you *%#@&" with me, SIMON!"
and that's just in the first 5 minutes. Luckily I ran into the room fast enough to change the channel. American Idol blows!!!

I've watched a few minutes of this show, several times, and each time came to the conclusion that at least some of these people are paid to try out in this silly cometition, fully knowing that they'll fail. I bet some of the ones who are rejected, in that case, actually can sing well. Some of this stuff is just unbelievable, otherwise. Especially with their corny reactions, as you mentioned. Oy vey...
As to the quality of the show, well, it is laughable... that's worth something, I think ;)

I think it's like the high-speed chase syndrome. In other words, people will do stupid things just to get on camera. Apparently, some feel that a lot of the high-speed chases we see are done by those who are desperate for attention. With American Idol, a lot of these people know they have no singing talent, but they do it for fun, they're desperate, or they were dared to. I believe there is some sort of screening process, but it seems to have holes in it. :p

Never actually sat down to watch a whole ep of this show, but that does sound pretty bad...of course, if they *really* wanted to sound like supervillains, they'd give that echoing "I'llll beeee baaaaaaaacccckkkkk!" bit that villains always seem to do when they're defeated...though I suspect actual supervillains would be an improvement over the current show...

Wonders how well Lex Luthor'd fare...

It'd be funny if they really did stalk Simon and the others. I hope they try, because now that they're done with the preliminary auditions, the show's going to start getting dull.

I'd rather see A high speed chase from A 1920's silent film (or A Benny Hill skit) than watch these people make fools of themselves. (Or news shows attempting to create A "silent movie chase scene" with these audition clips)
That's why the show's funny! Of course it's lame... and I couldn't stop cracking up. Enjoy it for that. Don't try to see it as whatever it's trying to be.

Exactly, that;s about the only thing I watch this for. Ecspecially the last guy last night, "Hercules, Hercules, HERCULES" like the Nutty Professor's mom. :D

I wasn't joking about Benny Hill. It's some of the news shows that joke about the American Idol auditions while trying to imitate the "Bennt Hill chase scenes" very poorly.
