Japan is now getting....WHAT?!?!??!!

According to Sazuma (the Japanese import site), on September 9th, Japan will be getting THREE, count them THREE, Woody Woodpecker DVDs! The contents of the DVDs have not been announced, and images aren't up yet. Come on, first Japan gets the Song of the South laserdisc, then TEN Tom and Jerry DVDs, then THREE Tweety DVDs, and now three Woody DVDs?!? It's not fair I tell ya, it's not fair....

I'll bet you'll really blow your top if the Japs recieve Bugs Bunny Nips the Nips on DVD.

Why do they do this? If they've already made the DVD for Japan, is it too hard for them to make it for our region? It seems like they'd just have to make a few minor changes.

Does anyone have a list of the contents?

Well, perhaps in Japan there is a very huge demand for classic 'toon DVDs. That, and in Japan ANYTHING with a glimmer of popularity gets to be made into something-be it manga or in this case DVDs.

And as for Nips the Nips, that may have a good chance of coming out on Japanese DVD, since censor laws there are NOWHERE as strong here. Actually, we shouldn't be surprised if we see BBNtN on DVD eventually....

Well, there is a chance those DVDs could all be the recent Woody Woodpecker cartoons that air on FOX. I know other parts of the world have got collections of the new WW cartoons on VCD. These VCD collections were called "Sports-Mad Woody", "Woody Goes On Holiday", and "A Very Woody Christmas".

Any idea what the titles of the DVDs are?

As I read this post, it becomes quite clear to me that if and when I get a DVD player, the words "all region" will become most important indeed.

ummmm...

that, and a VHS duplicator deck, and one could cut tapes from ANY DVD... (for one's own use, of course;) )

It looks like you'll eventually be able to get them from the place that Thad mentioned, sazuma.com

Right now, you can pre-order, but they have no title listing. I'd wait until a titile listing came out, just in case it's the new ones like Jon suggested. The streetdate I saw was 9/21/01. Just search for Woody Woodpecker.
