In an effort to get talkbacks up for all episodes of Static Shock, myself and other forum moderators will be posting episode talkbacks to help get a complete set of talkbacks.

Im surprised no one is talking about this. Anyway this may be my favorite Static shock ep to date. I loved seeing how it all began all over again. I havent seen this in a while so i enjoyed it like a new ep. We get to see the big bang and the gang mrmber its affected. one of my favorite scenes was Static in Black Vulcan's suit. Ill give it a solid 5 starz.

This is my favorite too :D but it did bring up a couple of questions. not only in this Episode but through out season 1. Did the cops get affected too? They really had no protection besides those gas mask. And what happen to Wade the Gang leader? Did the gas spread through out the city? and did somepeople had a delay reaction from the gas?{If so, that would explain how Richie change into Gear}. Why was the gas at the docks? What was Alva purpose for making the Big Bang Gas  What happen to Alva? I hope *next season* all these question will be answer :)

I gave this theory on how the gas worked on another thread, might as well repeat it. Ever since the Big Bang, many bang babies have come forth. Some of them with delayed reactions, some i doubt wouldve even been at the Big Bang (remember the Asian genius kid with the Hulk-like deal going in season 1? I really doubt he was hanging with gangbangers in a toxic waste dump waiting for the big "rumble"). My guess is that the gas is slowly affecting the entire city. Also i think it specifically affects people going through puberty (explaining the high number of teenage bang-babies, and why the cops have never shown any affects). Besides the old man from last season (and it was never specifically said he got his powers from the Big Bang), the mutated single-cell life form from season 1, and the various Batman villains that have shown up, i dont think theres been a Bang Baby yet who wasnt under 20.
I dont remember if they ever fully addressed the companies and other factors behind the Big Bang (who created the gas, etc.), its been awhile since ive seen the first season. I would like to see it revealed, they would be really cool arch-rivals for Static (that fire guy from the pilot never really took off as an arch-nemesis).

Black Creature they did explain Rag Tag {old Man} origin remember "attack of the living brain puppets" when that girl had a flash back and she was in the alleyway talking to Rag tag{old man} then a mist of gas cover them both. And I do agree with your theory on the Big Bang Gas. :)

Yep, and this week it's going to affect Richie turning him into Gear. Or does his brain just mutate and he becomes super-smart and starts building equipment and such?

I'm fairly sure he was smart to begin with. After all, he made a lot (all?) of Static's tech stuff.

Accroding to the poster that was sent out by Kids WB the change will be because of a delayed reaction from when Ritchie had his powers. Basically the effect is he is now much smarter then he was before and able to design a superhero outfit.

I never thought i hear myself saying this, but man, i'm starting to like static shock. I had only watched it in the past because of the batman, superman, and JL crossovers. But after seeing the first episode aire last night on cartoon network, i gotta say, i like the plot alot, and i think he is a great role model for kids who live in the city and have to deal with things such as gang violence. The Show defenitly cators to a crowd alot younger then btas seemed to, but its leaps and bounds above the Zeta Project. It is a shame that Static has been taken off kids WB, becuase know all kids have to look forward to is Pokemon Digi Hello Kitty garbage  Whatever happen to the good old days........

I never understood why so many people on this board hate this show. It seems okay to me.

Yeah the purberty thing makes sense. In fact Rag Tag (Old Man) even explained that the gases effected him differently he can only give powers to others but not use them himself.
Also The explatation for gear is A the close contact he had with Vergal after the bang, and that V's clothing was saturated in the gases, and B the delayed reaction thing.
This was a good start to a show I never really gave all that much credit too. Its just all the guest stars in latter seasons really hurt this show.

Its just all the guest stars in latter seasons really hurt this show.I don't think it was the guest stars that hurt the show as much as the executives at kidswb, I'm pretty sure that in order to save bundles of money, they replaced all the WB execs with blue butted monkeys who accidentally push the "cancel show button" instead of the "more bananas" button, bet they wish the had opposable thumbs now huh?!
Woops, caught my mistake b4 someone got me, monkeys do have thumbs, maybe i was thinking of Hipopotomi? oh, i know, mayb the WB execs just like bananas more then renewing quality TV! :D
