What's Darkseid's Story?

whats darkseid's origin, backgroung, etc? ive always wondered this, and may have even asked this on these boards a while back. also, what comic did he first appear in and whose rogues gallery does he belong in and what title is he from? I know he originally isnt a superman villian. thanks.

Well he was created by our good freind Kirby.

His primary mission in life is to find some equation that will give him ultimate power.

Darkseid first appeared in Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen #134 (how this character could maintain a book this long is amazing to me). His ultimate goal is to aquire The Anti-Life Equation which would give him the means to psionically control the entire universe.

Darkseids history is very interesting. His birth name is Uxas and from his humble beginings he wanted nothing more than to rule the planet Apokolips which was at the time controlled by his mother Queen Heggra. The only person who stood in the way of him one day ruling the planet was his brother Drax. who wanted to bring peace to the planet. So one day when Drax went to the Infinity Pit in the hopes of channelling the power of The Omega Beams to help his cause ,Uxas used this oppartunity and killed his brother and took the power for himself.

Some years later Darkseid fathered his first illegenamte child , Kalibak by a scientist named Suli (he also has another son from a different woman named Grayven). But she was not to be his wife becuse his mother had already arranged for him to marry a woman named Tigra (who is the mother of Orion). Darkseid upset with his mother forcing him on a woman he did not want poisoned Queen Heggra and became ruler of Apokolips.

Darkseid has many enemies the main ones being The New Gods Of New Genesis, his son Orion and Superman. He has also caused trouble for Wonder Woman

He's a schemer on par ( at least ) with Dr. Doom, and has been around forever.

He's also the most evil being in existence, with the POSSIBLE ( not certain!! ) exception of certain lords of Hell.

He is (was) part of The New Gods title this is the book he was most frequently seen in when there was one and is in Orions and Supermans rouge gallerys.
