A little while ago, I was watching TCM and they were showing a "Festival Of Shorts" segement. The short subject was a "Pete Smith Speciality",and for those who don't know who PETE SMITH was? He was a filmaker back in the 30s and 40s for MGM, that made two reel films some of them comedies and some based on real life history.

Well this certain film (missed the title) was about the Black cotton pickers deep down in the south, now this film had all the ethnic stereotype gags with their slow talking(such as saying, mammy) dialect that you would expect in films made back in the early 40s.Now the real reason I'm writing this to all of you is because, just why can't TCM show the TWELVE CENSORED BUGS BUNNY CARTOONS during the late night viewing audience? TCM is a classic movie channel for adults and since TCM does present cartoons on their channel in between feature length films and this could give them HUGE ratings for a "Festival Of Shorts" two hour special.

Now I know that many of us have e-mailed CARTOON NETWORK, AOL/TIME WARNER about seeing these classic cartoons, I have just sent TCM a very nice letter explaining this situation and asked them is there anyway their channel could somehow present those cartoons opposite JUNE BUGS next month.I doubt it, but if we all can e-mail TCM about airing the twelve censored cartoons (you never know until we all give it a chance) then our voices could be heard to this network.

Let's all give it a shot okay my fellow Toon Heads!!!!

their web-site is:

and then click on Feedbacks, and click on the first box titled:Request/Suggetsions, and then let them know how you feel...

While I agree that TCM would be a perfect place to air the banned Bugs cartoons, I don't think it'll ever happen. The main reason those cartoons were banned in the first place is that WB doesn't want to hurt the marketability of one of thier biggest cash cows. There's no Pete Smith merchandise to sell, so no one cares if an obscure short he made in the 40s airs someplace. But Bugs Bunny is figure known around the world, and anything that could hurt his merchandising potential is not in the best interests of WB.

Brian's right. I figure that CN was originally just going to pull "All This and Rabbit Stew" (and possibly "BBNTN"), but the others are pretty tame. I mean, Kids WB and Nickelodeon played a majority durning the day. They could play "Mississippi Hare" (edited)and "Frigid Hare" during the day and no one would care. "Mississippi" was even recently uncut on Entertaindom! Playing "Herr Meets Hare" during late night hours wouldn't stir up a controversy, sense it's got the same level of content as "Plane Daffy" and "Russian Rhapsody", which have recently aired. The Indian episodes could be played during late night hours as well.
