Hey Gang~

This is one of those extreme rare, mega-sought after babies... An original b & w cel of everyones fave... Daffy "Dumas" Duck. Annnnd in an EXTREMELY SOPHISTICATED pose to-boot ;). Have been watching this auction since it came up, at a fairly reasonable $75. Had hoped it wouldn't reach the level the last one did (a year ago peaked at $2950 !!). It's now officially way out of my league (am sure the owner is in shock at how high it is right now). (The real book value is way in excess of this current price). Sooooooo IFFFF YOU REALLY love black and white then this is the ultimate for you!!! Start reminding parents that Christmas is "just around the corner" :)

Note the signature by Schlesinger-it states that "he" used that cel. A classic sign of his ego, I'd say.

Naturally, the Producer even got to accept Academy Awards, even though WB never won any under Leon :( . They also got the biggest credit, I know some people who thought Fred Quimby directed all the Tom and Jerry cartoons....

Ever notice how the on screen credits doubled when Schlesinger left?

Looks like it is a cel of Daffy from "Porky's Last Stand"... where Daffy is washing dishes and drying them with his butt.

Ho-De-Ay, start the day right!!

(Jack said this..)

"I know some people who thought Fred Quimby directed all the Tom and Jerry cartoons..."

(Raises hand sheepishly)

I used to be one of those people, until I got Cartoon Network and took a greater interest in the credits. Quite a shock to the system to learn H-B did all those toons.

I think it is. I remember there was a cel like that
in a book "Bugs Bunny: 50 Years and one Grey Hare,"
of an early Bugs from "Elmer's Candid Camera."
I think that IS from "Porky's Last Stand!"
I thought the scene where Daffy is drying the dishes
with his butt was one of Daffy's greatest and looniest acts ever!

Olive Oyl did it first, in "Cops Is Always Right".

Hi Gang~

Just the closing note on the mucho-cool and rare b&w Daffy cel... For anyone who's interested, the last and final bid on it was (a little fanfare and a hushed audience please;))... Three thousand eight hundred and Fifty dollars (that's right $3850 !!!!). And nooooo it won't be adorning my walls :(. (By-the-by that is $900 higher than a similar one a year ago. On this Daffy-dude there were a total of 26 bids, but really only 9 bidders. Annnnnnd foolishly most bid early, thus driving the price up prematurely (remember it opened at $75, gasp!!). It would be nice to think that it will be shortly in the possession of one of the Termite Terrace denizens, buuuuuut I don't think soooo. :(
