View Full Version : How could "Inuyasha" end?
If "Inuyasha" had an ending, how could or would it end? What's a typical Rumiko Takahashi ending? The only two I could think of so far are:
1) Inuyasha gives up his dream of becoming a full, but lone, demon because he has learned to value friendship and love over power. The four friends hang out together to protect the jewel (and continue on with other adventures).
2) Inuyasha dies and is reunited with Kikyo's spirit. Kagome goes back home to Tokyo with the jewel. The new nasty boy at school is Inuyasha's reincarnation, and is out to get the jewel from Kagome, so the adventure continues, but in Tokyo.
How would you want to see the story end?

I'm thinking for the ending, Inuyasha might decide to just use the jewel to turn into a human despite his original plan while Kagome probably stays in his time and they live semi-happily ever after or something.... I don't know. ^_^

This would be a typical ending if this happened. They collect all the jewel shards and Inu Yasha is about to turn into a full demon, but is convinced otherwise by Kagome and company, and instead he turns human to be with Kagome. That would be a normal Hollywood ending. Hopefully, they come up with something better.

Naraku is split into two forms, at the expense of Inuyasha's body. Both Naraku and Inuyasha split into full human and demon bodies, although seperate, which also destroys the Shikon jewel in the process. Naraku's demon and human forms are both unstable from so much augmentation, and thus break down and die. Meanwhile, Inuyasha is split into a demon and a human.
The demon Inuyasha remains behind in the fuedal era with Kikyo. while the human Inuyasha leaves with Kagome, although both of them have no memory of their past (although learning to love again should be no problem). Thus both worlds are finally seperated, and the the good guys aren't at a loss at all, aside from the lost friendships of the supporting cast + Kagome.
Well, something like that.

Sesshomaru and Inu Yasha form an uneasy truce in order to defeat Naraku. Not real sure on the details of why this'd happen, though. They manage to destroy Naraku, but then turn on each other once Naraku's dead. Inu Yasha and Sesshomaru injure each other heavily, but neither of them die. The restored Shikkon Jewel is split into two. One half is given to each brother so that they would gain strength to recover from their wounds.
With the destruction of Naraku, Miroku's curse is lifted, and he and Sango travel together slaying demons. Sango has to keep that lecherous monk in check after all. ;) Kagome returns to modern Tokyo but then discovers that she sees shards of the Jewel there as well. Adventures continue, as well as the mystery of the fate of Inu Yasha and Sesshomaru.

They all defeat Naraku, Miroku's hand is healed, Kohaku is laid to rest, Kikyo is laid to rest, Sango and Miroku get together, Koga finds a mate. Rin, Sesshomaru, and Jaken go back to ruling the Western Lands and Rin and Sesshomaru get together when she comes of age. Inu Yasha and Kagome complete the jewel and he uses it to become a full human. Then he goes back with Kagome to their time where they get together. Shippo is a kind of "little brother" of Kagome and ends up being best friends with Sota. Kagome continues through school, passing, and goes to college or whatever. Then Sango/Miroku and Inu Yasha/Kagome get married. Sango bears Miroku a male heir who grows up to be a police and Inu Yasha and Kagome.... feh, I don't know about them, one of you can come up with that. :D So yah, that's a happier ending to the series, though I doubt it would happen.

So far I like your ending the best.

Here's a very strange ending.
Inuyasha finally confronts Naraku. Naraku has sent up the shield to block out Kagome, Shippo, Miroku, and Sango from going in. Inuyasha looks around, and found out that he's in Onigumo's cave, the place that started the corruption of the Shikon Jewel. Naraku and Inuyasha both battled each other, with full power, and Inuyasha finally became the victor. During the last hours, Inuyasha pointed the Tetsusaiga towards Naraku's neck, and is about to kill him off, when Naraku sprays poison gas onto Inuyasha. Inuyasha, covering his nose, couldn't see what's going on. After the gas departs, he see Kikyo, and remembers all that had happened. But Inuyasha also knows that Naraku is a shapeshifter demon, and he must've shapeshifted himself into Kikyo, in order to stop Inuyasha from killing. Inuyasha, not wanting to endure the painful memories any longer, goes ahead and slices off Naraku's head, thus finally killing Naraku.
And when the shield cleared off, Kagome and the others went in and joined Inuyasha, wondering what happened and why Inuyasha was crying. Inuyasha replied that the one he killed, was, in fact, the actual Kikyo. Naraku's true form was Kikyo.
Inu Yasha will die in the ending, somehow.

Takahashi isn't the type to separate her hero and heroine. Unless she pulls a surprise ending out of this one (which I doubt), then it's going to end up with Inu Yasha and Kagome together. The question is, how far will she take this relationship? Usually when she's writing a story about people who are under age, she doesn't allow them to have sex/get married, etc - she just makes it clear that the couple loves each other, and eventually that kind of thing will happen. However, in this case, though Kagome is under age, Inu Yasha is not. It's just possible that she'll allow Kagome to turn 18 so that she and IY can enter into a more permanent relationship. So it's kind of interesting, there's some room for surprises in the love story.
I do think that Naraku will be defeated in the end. That's too big of a lose end for Takahashi to leave alone. She'll close that story. I also think that Kikyo's spirit will be appeased somehow. But business of finding the jewel shards will still be open, and that's probably where the story will end.
That's my opinion, anyway.

Inyuyasha heads in much the same direction as all the other Rumiko Takehashi material. the manga has yet to end, they are in negotiations for more anime and well...
Kikyo has come back to life.
so...this puts us in a position for alot of similar character stuff.

Ending #1 seems most appropriate for an ending. Maybe somehow, Kikyo is able to stay alive on Earth in the end.

How about...they all die in the end? Just kidding.
But really, I don't think anyone believes Inuyasha will actually go through with his wish to become a full demon.

I think it'll end with:
Naraku being defeated, finally. Kagura will then be free from Naraku's oppression. Kanna will...I don't really care what happens to her, it's not like she really does much (except show Naraku what's going on through her mirror)
Sesshomaru, Jaken and Rin will just wander around Japan.
Kohaku will die when his shard is removed when the whole thing is reassembled again.
Kouga will give up on Kagome and marry Ayame like he promised
Kikyo will die and stay dead.
Inuyasha will become human w/ the SnT and Kagome and he will be forced to say goodbye.
Sango and Miroku will officially hook up. Shippo will just live with them.
A week or so after returning to the present a depressed Kagome will be surprised and overjoyed to see that Sango, Miroku, Inuyasha and Shippo have found a way to stay in the present with her.

There is no 3rd movie. There are only 2, did you mean at the end of the second?

Okay, #1 sounds a little hokey, but that's the way it looks during the opening credits (that's on the DVDs). Inuyasha has a few scenes by himself, then the happy friends Sango, Miroku, and Kagome swing by and Kagome grabs Inuyasha's arm, then Inuyasha has this very sweet face that we have not see on him yet! They all fly off into the sunset!
Do you live near where they film "Dawson's Creek" by any chance?
How about this whole story is Kagome's dream on the eve of her 15th birthday? The next day, on her birthday, she is able to share with Grandpa how to market the shikon jewel to tourists. Kagome becomes a wealthy businesswoman!

Naraku may die but baby Onigumo may live. Although I've only seen assorted manga pictures, so I don't know what that character's deal is.
Knowing Takashi, you can predict with a chance of 90% accuracy that Inu-Yasha will purify the jewel by wishing to become human rather than a full demon.
If I were Inuyasha though, I'd just keep my cool half demon powers and have Miroku dispose of the shards with the wind tunnel (if Naraku hadn't been killed yet) or just burn at least a couple shards into ashes so the jewel couldn't be reformed.

My prediction as to where this's going?
Spoilers, since some of this has to do with stuff that hasn't been shown yet:
Naraku gets the completed Shikon no Tama and absorbs it to become uber-big demon thingy ("Look, now I'm an even BIGGER target!"). Inuyasha uses the Bakuryuuha to split Naraku into all the separate demons that make up his body. Miroku and Sango have a great time taking out all the separate demons while Kagome uses her purification arrows to shatter Naraku's core. The result of which being the shattering of the jewel AGAIN, and they're all happily back where they started ^_^
Somewhere along the line, Kohaku will lose the jewel shard keeping him alive, and Sesshoumaru will use Tenseiga to revive him so that he and Rin can be together.
After which point, Sango, Kohaku, Miroku, and Rin all go off together. Inuyasha and Kagome go a-hunting for the jewel again, and Sesshoumaru goes back to whatever it is he does when he's not trying to kill his brother.
Good thing I'm not the one writing the series ^_^*.

According to the January issue of Newtype there is a third movie, unless they messed up on the number. There's a 4 page spread on it...
I think it will end like this: Naraku gets killedthe story in the magazine talks of a final battle between IY and him, so I assume he is killed. Kikyo comes back and tries to kill Kagome and IY after the jewel is completed and they are fatally wounded. IY uses the jewel to save Kagome's life and first he then Kagome vanish from the fuedal era. Kagome awakes and goes on with life as usual, grieving for IY and missing her friends. Butt turns out that IY was reborn in the present age and he and Kagome live happily ever after or as close to it as possible for them. Sango and Miroku live their lives out together in fuedal Japan, with Shippo and Kilala of course. Kikyo lives on in hatred of IY and Kagome, but eventually falls at the hands of another demon she tries to unsuccessfully defeat. :yeah!: And everyone it happy! :) It probably won't happen this way, but it's a nice thought.

Well, Posts above talk of Naraku possibly dying at the end of the second movie. The magazine talked about starting off the thrid one with they're final battle with Naraku and then the story goes on from there...
I'd have to check the magazine, but I can't now because I lent it to my younger sister for a week, so I'll have to do it later. I swear that is what it said though. Is there anyone out there who has the January Newtype to confirm or disprove there being a 3rd movie? I'm not running out to dish out another $10 to do so...

Who's Rin?
Aren't those two (Sesshomaru and Inuyasha) ever going to get along? Maybe they can be powerful as a team (I don't quite know what their history is, other than they have the same dad and fight each other every now and then, and they don't seem to be happy with the swords their father gave them).
