Hmmm...this is a tough one, but for me, pretty much anything TMS touches has the best animation. The only other studio that comes close on a consistant basis is Dong Yang, who did the bulk of all three series'.

I'll list my faves - excluding the three movies, which had better animation than anything else.

BTAS: This is a tough call, but it's between HEART OF ICE, TWO-FACE (Pt. 1), FEAT OF CLAY (Pt. 2), SECOND CHANCE, THE LAUGHING FISH, ROBIN'S RECKONING (Pt. 1)...there are too many.

TNBA: OVER THE EDGE, definitely. JUDGEMENT DAY is the best looking non-TMS ep of that bunch.

With STAS and BEYOND it's tougher for me to choose, because they're all animated quite similarly, as far as I see. :)

BTAS: Two-Face part 1

TNBA: Over the edge

STAS: World's Finest part 1 (besides wf, which is more like a b/s ep imo, "A Little Piece of Home" definately)

BB: Rebirth 1 & 2 or Shriek

JL: A Knight in Shadows or The Savage Time

For BB and JL I put 2 and i wrote "or" because i remember both choices having great animation (well, relative to the series) but i dont remember which had better animation, since its been a while since ive seen either episode, so i just put "or".

I concur on the superiority of TMS animation. Its just so vivid and fluid. Too bad it was used only sparingly in the series.

BTAS: "Feat of Clay (part 2)"; Other notables include "Robin's Reconing (part 1)" and "Two-Face (part 1)".

TNBA: "Over The Edge"; Other notables include "Never Fear", "Growing Pains", "Mean Seasons" and "Judgement Day"

STAS: "The Late Mr. Kent"; Other notables include "The Prometheon", "World's Finest (part 1)", "Ghost in the Machine" and "A Little Piece of Home".

I don't watch JL but from the one episode I have seen, the animation is nothing to write home about.

How about Mask of the Phantasm? That movie was awesome in every way, especially animation. Jl, definantly "The Savage Time."

Overall I think Justice League and Batman Beyond have the best animation. Some of those old BTAS eps look pretty dated now.

i strongly dissagree. i think JL has BY FAR the worst animation out of all the series. It may be due to the smaller budget, who knows, but overall it is the worst, imo.

bb is overall good, although there is a good amount of episodes with below averge animation. peace.

I can only assume that you have only seen The Savage Time, as that's the only episode that has good animation, and even that isn't great. The rest of the JL eps have pretty poor animation. Batman Beyond started off well, but many of the later episodes had average animation at best.

The look of Batman TAS may seem a bit dated, but in terms of the quality of the animation it's still years ahead of most of the shows currently on TV.

I just have to say that this is so right on! --And you just don't see animation with that kind of quality anymore. It was like looking at a piece of art.

Well yes some of it is sloppy but I like the character designs on JL better than I do BTAS.

Apart from Bats ears being a tad too long for the Year One style costume I prefer his slimmed down look. And likewise for Superman. I was glad they ditched the TNBAS Joker design too (although I understand they're using the TNBAS design for Ivy on Static.)

I agree it BTAS set new standards back in 1994/5 But it's better in my memory than when I look at old eps.
