View Full Version : Settling an AIM Dispute

Ok, this is kinda silly, and maybe it even belongs in the F&G baord, but bare with me here. I'm trying to settle a dispute between 2 people. I said I'd take it to the AIM Advisory Board Council, so you all get to vote in something that matters!
Here's the dispute:
"Is it wrong for someone to dislike the music then quote it in their profile?"
So here's the facts. Person A's favorite band is "Saving Last Sunday." Person B hates that band, and hates the whole genre. However, Person B posted lyrics from said band in her profile. Person A vehemently objected saying it's not right for person B to post lyrics if she hates the song.
YOU are the AIM ABC. If you need any more details, just ask me. You have til tomorrow (no specific time, just by around early evening) to vote in this extremely pressing matter.

*WATCHES IT LAND*
Hmmm...it landed on its side. I think that's the neutral "why does it matter" side. :)
Sorry, can't really help, aside from saying that person B is somewhat of a hypocrite.

Sisters are fighting over this? When there are more noble things to fight about... like who took whos clothing? :p

Wow..I used to think MY AIM fights were petty.. :p
All right so...I think Person B can do whatever she darn well pleases--it's her profile and even if she hates that certain band, she can whatever she wants. I think Person A is making too big of a deal out of something so small...

I went with It's OK, but person A should receive compensation, since My fights on AIM get quite personal and that fit me too well.

My AIM stopped working last night while I was in mid sentence. I think it's dead.

You're kidding, right? Well, these sisters are incredibly idiotic. And, by the way, if sister B is quoting lyrics from a song and genre she supposedly hates, then she's a friggin' hypocrite.
That's all I have to say. >hands everybody cookies<

Well, I think Person B can post it in her profile. Some people like only the words in a song. I know of a few remixes that I despise because of the music behind it, but I still like the poetry involved with the lyrics. If the lyrics can stand alone without a person needing to like the music, then that's an excellent writer.

Whew. Geez y'all. It's not like it's a serious dispute. It's a game. Just playing. Just having fun. Nothing to get all huffy about.
C'mon now, are you telling me you people haven't had some dumb conversations/arguments at any point in your lives? (not directing that comment at everyone here) Some of you are jaded beyond repair. Lighten up people. I just thought we'd have some fun with this. These 2 are friends of mine's and I'm pretty sure it was possible to contribute (or not contribute, no one's holding a gun to your heads) to this thread without the insults.

Ok, not knowing the ENTIRE thing, my first gut reaction is to say it's ok.
There are certain genres of music I don't like and certain bands I don't like, but that doesn't mean I won't quote something from a song because I like that particular lyric. A lyric can mean something to me without liking the band or even the rest of the song. Sounds to me like the person is getting their undies in a twist over nothing.
Just my thoughts....

Well AIM has had problems recently and that MSN messanger is going kaput on me as well, can not find my user name and all, plus is it almost as the same as AOL has, but Spam mail and Connection stats wise.

Sorry. >sheepish grin< Had a bad day yesterday. :)
And, yeah, I've had plenty of petty disputes, but I keep them private. No need to make an ass out of myself my proclaiming "Hey, I'm arguing over whether the sky's blue or not! Go me!"
>ahem< I suppose I'm not having a very good day today, either. >hands failure a cookie< My apologies.
