View Full Version : That Odd Felix the Cat Movie
I remember seeing it a while back, it was actually my introduction to Felix, so it sort of has sentimental value. :p The movie began with a computer generated Felix telling the story of how he had to save a princess named Oreana (sp?) from the evil Duke of Zil. It's based more on the TV magic bag version of Felix.
I'd have to find a copy and rewatch it in order to really judge it, but I was wondering what everyone thought of it.

It is one of the worst animated movies I have ever seen. It's a really boring story with a terrible ending, and the Professor and Poindexter didn't do very much in the film. It's about as worse as "Tom and Jerry - The Movie"!
The 1950's Felix cartoons were average at best.
Give me the silent Felix cartoons any day! Mind you, the 1990's version was actually quite good.

Ugh! Don't mention that horrible film!
I felt that Don Oriolo (son of Joe Oriolo) did a horrible job with Felix. And putting the cat alongside very grotesque, stupid and modern characters who seem to have come from "The Twlight Zone Movie" was the straw that broke the camel's back. What's even worse is the newer Felix comics shortly made after this!
I actually felt this to be a HUGE blow to the classic silent Felix cartoons. In the silents Felix was a very free-wheeling cat who'd do whatever he wanted. Nothing was too daring for Felix back in the early days. Now, in this particular film, Felix isn't a tough guy anymore but a sissy. Ugh! I could only immagine Otto Messmer's shock of this film if he were alive to see it. He must be rolling in his grave!
This is a real stinker and must be avoided by ALL COSTS!
