The rumored, hyped, generated, and really big thing known as the MEGATON, is now known.

Its not the GBA SP, nor is it a company buyout.

The MEGATON is simply a new third party game for the GameCube.

The title of MEGATON first came in the Japanese magazine V-Jump. The news, however, was hyped, and made into one of the industry's biggest rumors. V-Jump mentioned a game as a MEGATON because that game is a GameCube title based off of a comic strip in the magazine.

While the game may interest some V-Jump readers, there are no plans for a release outside of Japan.

Oh, I love it. That's such a small, stupid announcement, that's not even of any interest to most US gamers. Hopefully, this will teach some people not to hype things up so much on the Internet (especially when they're unconifmed reports).

what the...? i am a huge Nintendo brand supporter, so i am obviously displeased by this announcement. but i can also say i wasn't expecting much as nintendo never takes any big risks what-so-ever. all of there moves and progressions are based financially and on consumer markets. i bet the only reason they plan on releasing "gamecube 2" is to compete with the super hyped playstation 3 just so they don't go out of existence completely. i know i'm basically bad mouthing nintendo, but i am still a huge supporter and all i can say is...take some freaking risks nintendo!!! but, yeah. bummer on the "megaton" announcement

You're missing the point. Nintendo never claimed it was going to be a big announcement. Some magazine said it was a "megaton" announcemnet because it was going to be based on a comic strip. And, while I'm sure it's something to get excited about if you know what the comic strip is, it's worthless if you don't.

The magazine got over-excited because it was a game based on a familiar comic, and then the speculation from Nintendo fanboys ran wild. And, in the end, after ALL that speculation, they got nothing. There's a lesson in all this...
