If Flip the Frog is an MGM character, then why doesn't CN air any of those cartoons? They air other MGM shorts like Tom and Jerry.

Oh boy...
The short answer is, CN doesn't currently have rights to Flip the Frog.
For a recent discussion on Flip that touches on the possibility of CN getting rights to Flip, the possible benefits, whether it is truly an MGM cartoon, and more, go here

Sooo to not get into too many arguments FLIP THE FROG was MGM's first cartoon series, then after Flip retired in 1933 they started doing cartoons again with Harman-Ising in 1934?

The way that I see it...Is that we all hope that CARTOON NETWORK picks up the series from FILM PRESERVATION ASSOC.
CN needs to have a good variety of classic theatrical cartoon shorts.

You're close, hippety hopper. After Flip's series died out in 1933, Ub Iwerks' studio started making Willie Whopper cartoons for MGM. They made those for the next year and then the partnership between Ub and MGM ended, and the one between MGM and Harman/Ising began. Ub also made the Comicolor series at about the same time as the Willie Whoppers, but MGM didn't distribute those. They were done independently.

I don't mean to sound rude, but could we stop it with the Flip the Frog threads? I enjoy his cartoons, but generally, it's the same question on "How is Flip considered an MGM star?" or "Why doesn't CN have the Flip cartoons?" I wouldn't mind seeing a small part of the forums called Frequently Asked Questions about Classic Cartoonsp. In fact, I'd help with it, and the questions I mentioned would be a good start for the page.

Sorry if I offended anyone.
