I was wondering, is there any of you who admire daytime soap operas. I'm starting to find soap operas more intriguing these days. One soap I admire is PASSIONS. That show seems like one of the extraordinary daytime dramas ever. People talk about it a lot. Most of the characters go through their passionate ways; many supernatural events take place in that little town. I find the show pretty interesting. I also watch DAYS OF OUR LIVES also, but I consider that my least favorite soap aside from PASSIONS. I even browse through the other daytime soaps, but don't watch them ALL of the time. The one prime time drama I admire is FELICITY. That show I have been watching since it first premiered. It looked pretty interesting. At first it was a little dull, but after a few episodes later, the storylines became sort of amusing. So I was wondering what do you think of these soap operas, the characters, and the stars? Most likely, I just wonder what you think of PASSIONS. That is if any of you watch it or know anything about it.

The list of TV shows that I watch is rather short (which all tie in to one or two specific patterns, explaining why I watch them as obvious). But as I got older, I realized a lot of the shows I watch ARE soap operas. Just not like the ones in the "day time" genre, which I don't particularly care for, probably because I'm a teenager.

Angel fans? Buffy fans? You're pretty much watching some form of a soap opera. Even Batman fans or Spiderman fans too, because they had their continuing stories with character development.

Those day time genre soaps though, I don't care for. They just all seem alike to me. But since I don't have much experience on watching them, I'm sure they have their strong points, and therefore followers other than mothers who watch one episode and unconsciously get hooked.

Leave it to me to pop in a Matrix or Big Daddy DVD while I work around the house that day.

 BATMAN? A SOAP OPERA?!?

How dare you, NIGHTWING! You have insulted BATMAN'S honor, and for that you will pay dearly!

That's right Peace Keeper, let's burn this evil one. j/k

I loathe soaps personally. Here I'll even compile a list of cliche's.

1. The good guys are always forced to turn on each other.
2. The evil lady, who will seduce and/or dig her nails into the hero. Much to the heroine's pain.

3. There is always a ghostly yetunbarebly ild to summon, and ask for advice.

24. I don't remember which show this was, but I remember seeing this thing where this person had a portal to the underworld in their I]closet[/I]

I loathe soaps personally. Here I'll even compile a list of cliche's. So here's Joey's Saturday night live type list thingy.

10.. The good guys are always forced to turn on each other (usually by cheating with a loved ones lover.)

9. The evil lady, who will seduce and/or dig her nails into the hero. Much to the heroine's pain.

8. There is always a ghostly (yet unbarebly cute) child to summon, and ask for advice.

7. I don't remember which show this was, but I remember seeing this thing where this person had a portal to the underworld in their I]closet[/I]. Sorry but when stuff like this starts happening you straight move to the other side of the country.

6. Someone always gets dramatically slapped across the face (don't ask me why they just do)

5. They all look like they where dipped in wine during editing. I mean what is that?

4. Happily ever after always = until the unavoidable plot tool of infidelity.

3. To many people being murdered, really be original.

2. With all those star crossed lovers being revealed to be related it's a wonder their aren't more homiscidal kids growing up in these things.

1. They all live disgustingly wealthy lives, but we all know that they'd be broke buying that much makeup.

Uh-huh. And in how many superhero adventure stories is there a villain trying to blow up the world, or take over the city, or get rid of a close friend of the hero? And in how many of them does the hero suffer anguish because he feels misunderstood or unappreciated?:D

The only soap opera I ever got into was Days of Our Lives when I was a kid watching it one summer. (I lived in the country, and there wasn't much else to do!). I loved it, but I particularly enjoyed the antics of characters named Eugene and Calliope. I don't know who played Calliope but the man who played Eugene went on to play Q in Star Trek the Next Generation. His character on Days of Our Lives made it quite worth while watching.
