View Full Version : Why Are These T&Js Banned

I'd just like to point out some Tom and Jerry cartoons, which are not in the rotation for no good reasons:

"Dog Trouble" (1942)-Why don't they show this one? Mammy HARDLY appears at all in this, and the cartoon doesn't have anything else offensive in it.

"Puss n' Toots" (1942)-The same with this one. They've dubbed her voice, and Tom's Chinaman impression is edited out already, so why not this?

"The Milky Waif" (1946)-Since the blackface scene is removed, why can't they play this?

"The Little Orphan" (1949)-Mammy makes a 7 second appearance (which is silent) and Tom's blackface is removed, so how come this Oscar winning classic is banned? Possibly because of Tom dressing as an Indian for most of the picture?

"The Framed Cat" (1950)-Another short where Mammy hardly appears at all.

The Remakes, "The Egg and Jerry" (1956), "Tops with Pops" (1957), and "Feedin' the Kiddie" (1957)-Nothing is wrong with any of these. Well, maybe the last one, but what about the first two? They play the WB remakes alot (with the exception of the Indian episodes). Speaking of remakes, they don't play ANY MGM remakes for that matter.

The Little Orphan has been shown (edited) on TCM and shows up (rarely) on Cartoon Network. Since banning anything from WB or MGM from broadcast on a network that proudly shows Ed, Edd and Eddie is beyond my comprehension to begin with, you've got me on the rest.
