WOW! Love the outfit!...but what is it with the goggles :p ...no really I love her new look. Btw, do you guys know a number that i could call to find out the nearest comic book store in my city. (Montreal,Canada)?

uh..man..that is bad. I liked her old one...I never read the comics..but I liked the hold one..course..maybe if she wasn't wearing the goggle things it wouldn't look so bad..

Question: is this for "gotham adventures" or the Catwoman comic series?

I saw a picture of her without the goggles in my comic store. She should lose the goggles--the design itself is okay, and the artist doing it is pretty good, but...the goggles need to go.

Yeah, the goggles do kind of ruin it.If they serve a purpose,however,well...

Um.... um..... er.

Let me get back to you on this one.

Looks very Matrix-y...

The new look is for her second comic book series, not Gotham Adventures.

As a long time fan of the Catwoman comic series, I have to say that I like the old one better. That just looks kinda stupid IMO. But I will probably still by the new series and give it a try. Who knows, the new look could grow on me. Just have to wait and see.:)

Boy, that's a real shame.

I'm looking forward to the new series (and I never collected the old series!) - I've been enjoying the current set-up story that's been going on for it in Gotham Knights. But, man, that costume. Ugh. Actually, as has been said, the costume itself isn't bad - its those awful goggles. Here's hoping for a quick revamp early in the series!

i like the new look, even the goggles. its kind of cool in a way. w/out them the outfit would be too plain. maybe they are night vision goggles? but the thing im kind of upset about is i read the new writer is planning on kind of phasing out selina's stealing days, saying he felt that the fact that she couldnt help it when she stole weakend her character or something like that. i liked her as a thief, too bad, cause other than that the new series sounds and looks great.

I've seen the picture without the goggles like Leaping Larry, and liked that. Hopefully she won't wear them often. I'm wondering if they have some kind of purpose, like providing night vision?

Well, I'm the weird one.

I like the goggles. It adds soemthing to the suit (which has never really impressed me with any of the Catwoman incarnations.) But I don't follow the comic books, so my opinion counts for less than nothing. . . .

I don't know... I like the costume and all, but the goggles...

It's not the goggles i mind, but they just look so "buggy" if you will. I can see they were trying to make them like cat style glasses, but they just give her big bug eyes. But that's just imo.

At first I thought those were her eyes, and I was looking at a Margaret Keene painting. It's a little better as goggles, but she still looks wall-eyed.

And is that crosshairs on her chest? It'd be nice if all criminals had convenient targets on their persons. Or maybe that part of her body was on the artist's mind that day....

The goggles bug me too. But the costume itself is very nice. And I don't really think it looks "Matrix-ish", it reminds me a lot more of the 'Batman Returns' outfit.

It's a good thing they switched costumes. The old one was beginning to be a bit retro, even old-fashioned in a way. And change is always a good thing.

The goggles have to go.

Kylewayne

Everyone agrees, the goggle HAVE to go. It's not that bad though with them, just makes her seem kinda weird looking.

The goggles aren't permenant. She will use them occasionally, but not all the time. The costume looks pretty cool and sorta retro-ish, I think. Great art, too...

Exactly. It almost looks like a 3D Video Game character. Watch out Lara Croft. Here comes Catwoman!

Yep, that's the picture I saw before, which is why I mentioned that it looked good without the goggies...

I hate it! What happenend to the sexy Catwoman. The one that was my dream girl. The one with the large breasts, fine curves, and long raven black hair. The one that wore the skin-tight purple outfit. This is just dissappointing. Catwoman is no longer the sexiest woman in comics. What a shame!

phew.....you can go read those Dark Horse comics if you want big breasts and "fine curves"...or even Witchblade, Gen13, blah blah blah..etc. etc. etc.

Catwoman is changing..and I think it's for the better..

To quote the Creeper from "Beware The Creeper."

"You're young. You'll learn!"

Just a joke Bird_Boy :)

Hey what's wrong with having some hot stuff like the old Catwoman in DC Comics?

Bird Boy

well, what I mean, is that we have "Sexy comic book women" all over the place..loosing one isn't going to make that much of a difference..

anyway, back on topic...I really like the new design...but, it probably won't stay..it'll probably be like Superman...he had that costume change..then..poof...it changed back.. :)

Yeah, I'm with ya BB. The market is flooded with them - what's the loss of one or two here and there. Besides, I've never really been one to get turned on by a comic drawing - I prefer real women to those drawn on paper! ;)

Catwoman's updated look is approiate. I mean her looks seem to fit her personality....the hair, the outfit, ect. I'm still not sure about the goggles......I do feel the Matrix vibe, and I think it seemed too normal to just give her regular sunglasses. Who knows...Change is good, trust me. Without change we'd all still be watching the Superfriends. LOL.

Joe Tully

Well, the new look is supposed to fit in with the changes that they are making to the character. They are supposed to be sort of "bringing her back to her roots." If it fits with that, I say go for it.

Eh...I don't feel bad about the change so much. Those ridiculously large-breasted women are being overused, like BB and Clayface said. There's too many comics that sell just by having enormous boobs on the cover. And confidentially, the new Catwoman doesn't look half bad either!

The important thing is, I think that we are going to see a better, more well-written Catwoman.

And honestly, she's still pretty stacked. I mean, she can look down now and see her feet. What difference does it make if she has normal sized boobs? Remember, it's quality, not quantity:p

*sigh*

Alright! Alright you people win!

And I admit it. I happen to be very attracted to women with a voluptuous figure and big breasts. Hey some may think of me as being a pig, but I'm also still human. :)

No offense to those who really liked the purple suit and the tail, but I really thought that was goony looking. This new black catsuit befits a real lady which I always thought Selina was. The goggles/sunglasses are a nice retro touch. Almost like Audrey Hepburn even! And the art reminds me of Alex Toth's work. Anyone know who is responsible? Nice job, DC!

You're right! That's probably the reason I like it--reminds me of caper/adventure movies from the 50s and 60s like "To Catch a Thief."

Oh, and welcome to the boards!

The retro look really works, I think. Brubaker says the look is here to stay as long as he is onboard. I know that Cooke can make the design work. I may pick this up..even thought it'll set me back almost $5.

My two favorite Catwoman designs have been the original TAS design and the purple dress with green cape outfit of the Sprang era. (Look its hard not to like an outfit on a gorgeous brunette with the neck cut *that* low and the thigh cut *that* high.)

This one just leaves me cold. I also really dont want to see the art of the superhero/supervillan costume being totally replaced by black Matrix leather.

It worked for the X-Men because they aren't really superheroes as much as they are a covert action team (No WildCATs pun intended).

I dont want to see the costumes all get replaced by leather and street clothes. Comics have been dour enough for the past 20 years without having that happen to.

Actually, the more I look at it, the more I like the new look!! I guess I can deal with the goggles if the story is good. I get more excited about this comic everyay! I think that it will be really cool, even with the changes. Can't wait till November!:)

And let's keep in mind that we've really only seen two concrete images of the 'new look'. The leather and goggles could be extremely cool in the context of the book.

As far as costumes changing to more 'realistic' clothing, Catwoman has always been one of those characters whose costume design was never nailed down. She has gone through several garish wardrobe changes since the 50's (even a few in the last 10 years). There has never been one that could really be called a classic. Ears and whiskers just don't do it for me.

I'm thinking that perhaps we're finally witnessing the signature outfit with this new book...even if the costume does remind me of Lee Merriweather's on the old Batman TV show!
