Gary Oldman is in negotiations to join the cast of Warner Bros. Pictures' "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" for director Alfonso Cuaron. The third installment of the studio's franchise based on author J.K. Rowling's book series will begin production Feb. 17. Oldman would play wizard Sirius Black, the escaped prisoner of Azkaban who is later revealed to be Harry Potter's godfather. Adapted by Steven Kloves, "Azkaban" is being produced by Chris Columbus, David Heyman and Mark Radcliffe. Michael Barnathan and Callum McDougall are executive producing. Oldman, repped by CAA, ICM London and manager Douglas Urbanski, will next star in a trio of indie features: "Sin," opposite Ving Rhames, "Tiptoes" with Kate Beckinsale and "Interstate 60." Well, it seems *slightly* more official... but, as with anything regarding this movie, I'm gonna take it with a grain of salt... at least until production begins, or we hear an official announcement regarding it... whichever comes first...

I think, however, he could be a cool Sirius Black...

Well I was checking out the pics of him over at imdb.com, and I liked what I saw. He could really be one heck of a Sirius Black. Sirius is probably close to being my absolute favorite character in the Harry Potter stories, so I'm quite anxious to see how they treat him in the films. And if Oldman is indeed going to play that part, them I'm all the more eager to see his performance.

I thought he's black. He's a versitile actor, although slightly crazy looking people are a specialty Like Rickman, he's a firm and solid actor who will do his role great credit. I think he'll giving a stunning performance.

I also see him as Black but if he does it he's got to grow out his hair a bit longer.
I can't wait to see who they choose for the other roles of Lupin and Pettigrew, plus all the Animagi transformations.
Plus the Dementors..oooh scary!

I also hope that Snape will be given a lager role in the next one as he did in the book, I also love Alan Rickman as Snape, he's so mean, I love that charicter in the book.
