OK all you TTTP maniacs, here's your chance for a little input! I told you I am in the middle of working on 13 new ToonHeads shows.
One of the episodes that "might" be made is tentatively entitled, "Cartoon News Reels."

I'm considering showing and/or pulling clips from the following list.

She Was An Acrobat's Daughter 1937 MM: FF
Porky's Snooze Reel 1941 LT: BC/NM
Nutty News 1942 LT: BC
The Weakly Reporter 1944 MM: CJ
Bacall to Arms 1946 MM: BC

Are there other WB or MGM cartoons you would like to be included in this episode?

Your fellow maniac,

How about a clip from "Bosko's Picture Show"?

How about these?

The Film Fan; 1939 LT with Porky Pig,
CN has shown that in Black/White before.

or

Meet John Doughboy; 1941 LT with Porky Pig

or

Believe It Or Else; 1939 MM with Egghead

Those all have newsreel/newsreel themes in them!
Sounds like a great Toonheads!
and Thanks for asking!!

Maybe a clip from "Buddy's Theatre" would be nice.

Robert McKimson's "The Hole Idea" has a newsreel showing the many uses for Calvin Q. Calculus' portable holes.

Why not show the entire "Bosko's Picture Show" and CN can just edit out the part where Bosko says, "The dirty f***!"

Jon and all41 pretty much covered the other ones with "The Film Fan," Meet John Doughboy" and "The Hole Idea."

Clampett's "Wacky Blackouts" could also be included, and if you're taking out clips for the start of the show, don't forget Egghead's closing line in "Cinderella Meets Fella":

"Let's go back to the 10th row and stay for the newsreel"

An actual showing of both "Buddy's Theatre" and "Bosko's Picture Show" would be a great treat!

You also might want to consider clips from:
"Rumors" (Private Snafu): The ending resembles that of a newsreel.
"Stopping the Show" (Betty Boop): The newsreel.

Here's an idea: Un-fairy tale crossovers.

This should feature the following:

The Bears' Tale (1940--crossover of Red Riding Hood and the 3 Bears)
The Windblown Hare (1948--crossover of the 3 Little Pigs and RRH)
Goldimouse And The 3 Cats (1959--bears and girl replaced)

The other idea was...the 12 Missing Hares in a 2-hour special. I think we deserve it after being snubbed earlier this year.

Here's another one for you...Turkey Dinners Gone Bad. This will feature:

Wackiki Wabbit (1943)--turkey towards the end of the film.
Jerky Turkey (1945)--yep, a classic, but in its entirety, please! I miss "half-breed"!
Holiday For Drumsticks (1948)--as I speak, Daffy is still blowing out those matches!

And, yet another thought, an episode on Insomia!

Good Night, Elmer (1940)
The Bear That Couldn't Sleep (1939)
either Porky's Badtime Story (1937) or Tick Tock Tuckered (1944)

And one more...For The Birds!

The Bird Came COD (1942)
Birds Of A Father (1961)
Life With Feathers (1945)--of course, please, in its entirety!

Some interesting ideas...let me know what you think!

Such an episode already exists, it has Good Night Elmer, Back Alley Op-Roar, and Daffy Duck Slept Here.

This was actually a take off on the Paramount News slogan, "The eyes of the world." When sound came along, it was revised to "The eyes and ears of the world."

According to the Big Cartoon Database, "Sock-A-Bye Kitty" (http://www.bcdb.com/bcdb/detailed.cgi?film=16355) involves Buzzy the Crow trying to cure Katnip's insomnia. CN would never show this for two reasons (the one being Buzzy is a Rochester caricature, and the other that they don't have airing rights to it). I've yet to see this cartoon, but I will soon....:)

I just LOOOOOVE the Newsreels idea! :)

There should definately be a medley of ALL the moments with Lew Lehr saying "___ is the CWAAAAZIEST PEOPLES!" from all the cartoons, not just the newsreel ones. Hopefully that wouldn't eat up much full-cartoon time, though.
