I mean, the technology is there and it seems fans are falling over themselves for 2D action adventure games like the Castlevania and Metroid Fusion series so the market is out there.
I mean I'd kill to take this guy:

on a Strider-esque adventure fighting a bunch of nasties of the same quality.
Looks like alot of love goes in to these 2D fighters. Think it ever occurs to them to expand the franchise into another genre and make even more money for themselves?

At this point, I think we're lucky to be getting many 2D games at all.
Although that is a good idea.

*Drools at the thought of a Megaman (or X) game that looks like that*
I've noticed that too, we need more 2-d games!

Yeah, I wish they would.
And also, I wish they would have given the Strider games (at least Strider 2) more depth.

Sadly the last major 2D games we got were Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance, Metroid Fusion, Mega Man Zero, and Contra:SS, but thats not enough. Damit this is why Capcom needs to recreate the classics like Final Fight, The Punisher, and Aliens vs Predator. At least release Aliens vs Predator on GBA for gods sake!

Nothing against 3D, but 2D games seem to be getting the short end of the stick these days. And we definalely need A new Final Fight game in CPS2 (or CPS3) style. Also, Disney needs to make more 2D games as well. Nothing against Kingdom Hearts, but many of their classic characters would make A great transision in A Guilty Gear style adventure game.

I agree, some types of games just don't lend themselves very well to 3D. For example, I think the ONLY 3D adventure game I've really enjoyed is Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the N64 (I haven't played Majora's Mask, I understand that one's good, too). All the others I've tried seem to be too hard to navigate around in or else fall into the "Banjo-Kazooie" category of mindless "Collect All 3 Super Power Rocks, All 29 Uber-Monkey Emeralds, and All 420 Blades of Grass to Advance to the Next Level!" types of games. I guess some people like that sort of thing, but I ain't one of them. (-:
I don't like it when they try to translate classic 2D games to 3D. There are exceptions (Zelda being one of them) but usually they suffer in the translation. Even OoT wasn't as good as Link to the Past. Still a good game, just not AS good in my opinion, and it's probably the BEST 2D-to-3D translation I've seen, with the possible exception of Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance.

Damn is that cool. And yes, I'd kill for a new Streets of Rage or Megaman that looked that good.
You know, I believe that due to the success of the Castlevanias on the GBA, Konami's considering the next Castlevania on PS2 to be a 2D one. Keep your fingers crossed, people.
