let's get DANGEROUS...man i love dw
I grew tired of it pratically as soon as it came on. It never really drew a crowd and I watched it only when there were infomercials on every OTHER channel.
I just was annoyed by the voice for DW, and then the villains. They just seemed--- bleh. Hardly a villain. I also disliked that little duck chick too.
I guess it never struck a chord with me. Sorry. :(

Darkwing Duck - the LAST great Disney Cartoon

I used to watch it every afternoon when I was a kid and now I'm having a nostalgia fest with it since I got Toon Disney.

I loved that show, back in the day. I have 85 of the 91 eps on tape (if only I could find the last four!) and occasionally pop them into the VCR for a little dose of nostalgia. And there are only a handful of episodes I didn't like; that's usually a strong sign of a great series.

At one point in time, I made a whole list of all he says with "I am the terror that flaps in the night!" I'm gonna have to see if I can find it... :)

Darkwing Duck (along with Pepper Ann, Gargoyles, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and Rescue Rangers) is probably the only good Disney cartoon that both appeal to adults and kids. Why can't more Disney cartoons be like this?
Darkwing Duck is awesome. It was my favorite of the original Disney Afternoon shows 'till Gargoyles came along. Used to have all the figures from the short lived toy line and have a couple old tapes with episodes recorded from way back in the DA days.

I watch it all the time on Toon Disney. I never had cable when it first aired, but now I fully understand how much it rules!

Another great thing about Darkwing is that it had perhaps the most talented group of voice actors to ever work on an animated series, led of course by the brillant Jim Cummings!

Darkwing Duck is the second best cartoon ever IMO (TMNT being the first). It had a great cast, it was funny, it had action, it had memorable characters, and it was well... worth watching! Something you don't see very often these days. I want the entire series on DVD!!! At least some of the episodes... It doesn't have a terrific time slot on Toon Disney these days, but it still is on. I can't stand how they show the series though. All out of order and they constantly show the same episodes... bah! It's nice to see my old friend still on the tube though. Darkwing will always live on as my favorite Disney character!

I don't remember much of it... but my older sister was a big Darkwing Duck fan back in the days. o_o; She collected action figures, dolls, video game, etc. She even made a DW skit where Gosalyn gets kidnapped by these two bad guys(forgot their names) with her action figures. o_o;; She recorded the background music off of the TV set and recorded the skit with a camcorder with music playing in the background. @_@;; .. hehehee. X3;;

i think the ones where gosalyn gets grounded at the end is bogus.
grounding just makes the kid more resentful and disobedient in later years as they spend like forever trying to make up a lost set of days they squandered when they went down the wrong path just trying to make their lives a little bit.. interesting.
what is so bizarre, is that save for the house of mouse disney really doesn't have one good anthropomorphic show that isn't sublicensed or reconstituted from their classic animated characters.. mostly humans like kim possible and the proud family, no ducks. maybe it's for the best that disney lays off the ducks for a while.. after all.. how many people reallly want to deal with vocal chokeup after quacking for 4 hours a week to the point of ununderstandibility?

Darkwing Duck was awesome! what happened to the show, I used to watch it a lot after school in 1992-1993. Can't find any news on it at all or if its even showing anytime/anywhere.

Hmm, I never really watched this show because I was so disappointed it didn't feature Donald or Scrooge. Can anyone give a brief description? Did it feature any classic Disney characters? Was it mostly comedy like Duck Tales or heavier on the action like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? Did he really get "dangerous" and beat the crap out of people, or was that just a silly catch phrase?

I remember watching this show before school each morning (along with Goof Troop), but I was only about eight or nine at the time. I probably wouldn't be able to give you much background on it, Desslar, but I do remember that it had a fair amount of action and comedy, often at the sime time. Although by my standards, probably not enough to consider "Lets get dangerous!" as o be taken literally.
Eh, I liked it then though. It was pretty good for a Disney TV show.

He was this costumed vigilante with all these gadgets, a secret hideout, and an overinflated ego. By all rights, it should've been cheezy and annoying, but he's also a wisecracking clutz with Launchpad for a sidekick and the most hyper and destructive tomboy of an adopted daughter. It was brilliant!
Well, okay, maybe it doesn't sound brilliant, but you have to see it for yourself...
Did it feature any classic Disney characters? No, but it did have cameo appearances from Ducktales, since it existed in the same world.

It was a pretty silly catch phrase. He did get dangerous, but mostly to himself. There was action, but it was almost always peppered with slapstick comedy, other parodies and great oneliners. The writing was great and the peripheral characters were wonderful and lovable - even Negaduck, who was admittedly pretty violent. But still in an overdone, comical way.

Sounds a lot like the awesome Inspector Gadget. Maybe I'll have to check it out sometime.

Yes, check it out, I remember it was awesome...
I first saw it when I first got Disney Channel every day after school in its uber-cool toon block. Unfortunately, it's only on Toon Dinsey which in my area shares the channel with three other networks. I think it airs on Sunday afternoons or mornings but I have to check.
This series was gold. A show following the same style would still be kick-butt today.

It was a perfect cartoon. It was funny, yet when you needed it, it would have a serious moment.
Well if you have Toon Disney it's on 11:30 and 12:30 a.m on weekdays , but this weekend he's on at 1:00 to 3:00 p.m on Sunday for thier chillian w/ villians block too.
They don't have any really good timings for Darkwing, but at least he's on.

Man, I'd give anything for this series to come back. It could have gone for another season or two before it was put to rest. It would be better than a lot of the stuff on the airwaves today; it was both witty, funny, catered to adults and children, had good messages, action-packed...argh. Actually, I'd love to see all the classic 80's/early 90's series' come back if possible.

I have this dream that they will bring Darkwing back in a movie in the near future and with me being an inspiring voice actress I would love to be in it. Maybe like a new type of character or guest apperance or something. Ahhh Dreams.

Well, the theme song was pretty good. I'll give it that. But, the rest of the series was too silly for me.
Though, I have to say, every once and a while they'd do something rather violent that really shocked me. I mean, I recall one episode where someone got ground up into little pieces and stuffed in a can. It didn't show this obviously. I think they just showed the can on a film reel while someone explained what happened to him to Darkwing, to which Darkwing replied "Eeew". Nevertheless, as a young kid, I was rather shocked and disturbed by such a grizzly description. But, this was several years ago so my memory could be a little hazy...

I liked the villians the most. They reminded me of spidey's villians with their specific gimmicks, lol.
