Robotech Question (POSSIBLE SPOILERS!)

I am going to phrase this question in a spoiler as to not ruin the show for those who have yet to see it.

How did Roy Fokker die? (I just love that name. Wasn't his OTHER brother in Meet the Parents?) I just watched the episode last night, and he's in that battle where the enemy is going against Max, so I don't see where Roy got injured, and the next thing I know, he's falling over DEAD in his girlfriend's quarters! HE LOST BLOOD???? WTH? Did I miss something? I wathched the last ten minutes of the episode twice. I am going to watch it again later to day, but I still feel like his death came out of left field. What did I miss?

What I'm left to conclude is that something was cut from the original Japanese episode of Macross (and like Cal I'm going to post the rest in spoiler mode)

It's been along time sine I've seen the ep, even though I got the second box set about 2 weeks ago I just haven't gotten to the ep yet. However I believe that Roy's Varatech(sp?) was so damaged that one of the shots actually got through and hit Roy, thus the bleeding and death.

Well Mr.O, all I can suggest is to watch the ep closely, because things can happen quickly and seem insignificant at the time they happen.

If you watch the episode again, you'll see hints at what point it happened, and some of the aftermath. I do wonder about a few things too, though.
