I was just wondering if anyone out there enjoys reading. I myself am an avid reader and sometimes I feel like there aren't many others who enjoy it as well. A lot of my friends say I'm crazy to read so much, and I feel they are right in a way. Well, if you do like to read, what genre? I myself like fantasy. Hope I don't sound too pathetic :D !

Now you know how I feel. I've been a bookworm all my life. Friends have vivid memories of me always having my nose in a book during junior high. I was famous for walking and reading around the grounds. In fact, I recall getting in trouble with in elementary school teacher because I was reading during class. I love all kinds of books from fantasy/sci fi, novels, history books and stories, mysteries, stories based off movies and such, the list goes on ending with comic books :D Reading's like my favorite thing to do. In fact, spent over an hour (that's short for me actually) at the bookstore today!

I like to read, and so do all of the people I work with, though none of us has time to do reading for leisure much.

I have to like doing it, I'm a college student.

But on a serious note, I love reading. I have a huge collection of books and am always looking for a new story, a new thing to get myself into. One summer I read Watership Down, 5 or 6 Brian Jaques books, 5 or 6 Stephen King books, and the Hobbit, as well as many other things which I can't recall. When I had the time, I read ALL the time. Now, not so much.

Now I tend to read more newspapers or online news sites, as well as more nonfiction books. However, I collect and read poetry on a regular basis, which is in short bursts, unlike a novel which is a long story. So, I tend to read more articles, shorter stories, or poems. It's all a time thing now really.

Plus, I read tons of comics now.

Anyway, I love reading. My list of favorite books is long and I have reread many classics, just because I love them that much. In fact, I've read the Hobbit 3 or 4 times, Watership Down 3 times, and A Clockework Orange 2 or 3 times.

So, yeah.... I love reading. :D:D:D:D

I love reading. I can read for hours on end. I'm one of these people who gets into a story and won't put the book down until I'm finished reading it. I've finished books in a few hours that take most several weeks. I'm a read-a-holic. :p

I think I started a thread about this before...

Anyway I read one or two books a month on average, although I'm pretty picky so I don't like a lot of them that much.
I read loads of comics too, does that count? :D

I love to read! But sadly this year has kept me very busy. If I weren't so occupied with so much work, I'd love to settle down to a new book once again. I've been dying to re-read the Lord of the Rings since summertime :)

Me! I love to read! My favorites have been the Hobbit, and the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. But I've read lots of stuff. Unfortunently I haven't read much lately, I'll have to start that up again.

Ditto. My teachers would always ask what I was reading since it had to be better than what they were teaching! :D

I used to be (and in some ways still am) a pathological reader. You know you are a bookworm when you read encyclopedias and dictionaries for fun!!
I used to go to the public library almost everyday and check out multipule books and bring them back, READ, the next day. I probably would have grown a few more inches hadn't I didn't stayed up all night reading so often. I have a sister a little younger than me and we encouraged each other in our obsession with books. Ah...those were the days. Now as an old married woman, I'm mainly just an internet junkie. I think my internet addiction is partially a need to have a certain number of written words pass in front of my eyes.
Off-topic, Barb Gordon, you don't put up your author to discuss anymore. Weren't there enough takers?

Gah. Looks like I share a problem with a lot of people here: I *love* to read, but haven't the time for it. :( Of course, if I read more often, I wouldn't be posting here so often! But you guys wouldn't mind that. :D

I wouldn't exactly say I'm a voracious reader, but I've got lots of different books on different subjects at home that I like to delve into every once in a while. In fact, I even took a couple of Art History courses just so I could get the book and do the real learning later! :p

I also read fanfiction occasionally, but I dunno if that counts...

I love to read. I have a ton of books, but lately I have been checking out more books from the school library because it's easier than hauling a million books in my trunk whenever I go to school after vacation (I do leave quite a bit in the dorms though)

I do enjoy reading. There's just something about turning the pages of a book that can't be duplicated in any other form of entertainment.

Unfortunately, I've sort of developed into a slow reader, lately. Back when I was a kid, I was an EXTREMELY fast reader, and would polish off a 200 page book in a day... But as I finished middle school, I found that I had less time to read, and more things that I wanted to do. I'm definitely trying to get back into the regular reading habit, though.

Man, with all the bookworms around here, we should have a TZ Suggested Reading List!

I've had several books taken away from me because I read them during class. Recently, I've been more into music than reading, but most of the lyrics I do like can stand alone as poetry. I used to read hundreds of books each summer, but unfortunately, that isn't happening anymore. It's a real bummer, but I do manage to find time to sneak in some stuff I just gotta read.

Currently am finishing the newest Brian Jacques book, Triss - next up is Slaves of the Mastery by William Nicholson. :)

I LOVE to read. I have about a zillion books. My problem is that once I start reading a book, I can't put it down. When I got the 4th Harry Potter book, I quite litteraly read it from cover to cover in 22 hours nonstop. I'm a big time fan of fantasy, adventure, and scifi.

Always figured Huxley accurately characterized our present world better than Orwell. Though both of them are becoming more and more relevant in our time.

I love a good book. Plays are nice, especially Shakespeare. My favorite play is Aristophanes' Lysistrata, though.

Thus far, I like Roald Dahl and John Grisham. In addition to MANY other books. I cannot list the massive number of authors that have warped my mind towards making a cartoon that can show the reason why these books are good.... [essence of a series I plan on working on....]

(Matilda's the best--DO NOT WATCH DeVITO's MOVIE, however. It's WAY OFF. In anime terms: try to imagine the most hated dub in your mind. That = Danny DeVito's version of Matilda. I saw the commercials and knew to steer clear, because I read the book first.)

(HIS books become movies with good reason. Of course, I see them animated in my head. Just read The Summons with two Kinnikuman Nisei wrestlers cast in roles. One of them looks a bit like Grisham.)

I've also read MANY fanfics--and I've written a few as well. [Fanfiction.Net author #7563: Anubis Soundwave. latest publication: Poltergeist Blues. shameless plug: ended.]

I was WAAAAAY too young for that book when I read it, maybe ten, and it traumatized me. I didn't really understand it that well. I would read anything I came across in those days. I'll have to re-read it one of these days.

Well, Slipknot, the book usual includes stuff that never made it to the big screen. It explains more of the motives and details that the movie just can't get to in a 2 hour time span. This is why a lot of people feel the book is better than the movie. Some books, like The Exorcist or The Godfather, have graphic scenes that would probably send people running from the theaters. The Exorcist occurred over a span of several months, if I recall, and the movie only touched on a few incidents scattered over that time.

I'm a very visual person, and I know a book is good if I can see it happening in my mind, like a movie. The great thing about it is that I don't have to rewind or wait until it comes on TV again; just turn back a few pages and let the scene replay.

Well she spends a lot of her free time reading. What's up with that? "I want to watch this movie so I'll read the book first"

hahaha I was even talking to someone from this board and she was reading the Lord of the Rings books because she couldn't wait to see the movie. I think it was that. Hopefully not Harry Potter hahaha.
